Today marked the last in-person session at The Bread Line in Penzance for our community-curated project with @st.petrocs   During the ten sessions our Programme Curator & Learning Lead Rebecca English and art fascilitator Theo Carter Webber have worked with St Petroc clients. 👥 Each week has begun in the same way: gathering around a table to share food, conversation and time together before exploring a selection of portraits from the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection. 🖼️   After finalising the works from @nationalportraitgallery, which will be on display at The Exchange next year, we enjoyed a visit back to The Exchange to look and engage with ZED LOVE by @libitasibungu ✨ 🙏🏽Huge thanks goes out to @theocarterweber for facilitating in such thought provoking and engaging ways, to our funders of this project The Headley Trust and @pzcouncil and our partner The National Portrait Gallery.👌🏾 We can’t wait to share this exhibition with you in the Summer next year. 🔗Learn more about this project via the link in our bio

Yesterday, our colleagues Beth Hoskings and Emily Eastburn-Pentreath used their volunteering day to support St Petrocs, helping to prepare homes in Nansledan. They spent the day putting together flat-pack furniture and helping to get the houses tidy, organised and ready for their new purpose. The homes are part of a project supported by the Duchy of Cornwall, helping St Petrocs provide accommodation for people experiencing homelessness. Emily said: “It was really rewarding to play even a small part in this project, which will provide a safe home for someone in need and help St Petrocs in their aim of ending homelessness in Cornwall.” We’re pleased to support St Petrocs and the important work they do across Cornwall. https://www.stpetrocs.org.uk/ #StPetrocs #MurrellsLaw #Volunteering #Cornwall #Community #MakingADifference #EndHomelessness

This might be the most powerful episode of Off The Pitch we’ve ever done ❤️ What happens when a viral moment changes your life—but doesn’t change your circumstances? This week on Off The Pitch, we’re joined by @thenightchurchpianist to talk about #homelessness, his journey as part of the #lgbt community, and using both his platform and his pain to help others. Rhys became an internet sensation after a video of him playing piano inside a Cornish night church while experiencing homelessness went viral. Suddenly, the man who had been living on the streets found himself in the spotlight, receiving national recognition including a Pride of Britain Award and being named one of The Big Issue’s inspirational Changemakers. But behind the viral video and the awards is a much more complicated story. Rhys speaks openly about homelessness, the realities of life on the streets, finding fame while still struggling to find somewhere to live, and the role that music played in helping him survive some of the darkest moments of his life. As a gay man, Rhys also discusses the particular challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people experiencing homelessness, and why being part of the queer community can make an already devastating situation even more difficult. Put simply, it’s a conversation you don’t want to miss - and it’s in your feeds right now. You just need to hear it. 🎧 Listen via the link in bio / stories 📱 Follow for a brand-new LGBTQ+ conversation every week ⭐ Rate & review to help more people discover the podcast #cornwall #homelessness #piano

Today, @st.petrocs received the keys to a new development of homes in Nansledan, Newquay, that have been built especially to support people who have experienced homelessness in the local area. Delivered in partnership with The Duchy of Cornwall and Homewards and fully furnished through the Homewards Furniture Project, these high-quality, low-carbon homes will provide a secure and stable home whilst also demonstrating the positive role that exemplary temporary accommodation can have in supporting people to recover from homelessness. With on-site counselling space and wraparound support, residents will have the foundations they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. Together, we’re showing what’s possible when partners work towards a shared ambition: making homelessness rare, brief and unrepeated.

The Duchy aims to create healthy, inclusive and sustainable communities, working with partners to address local housing needs. Hear from Henry Meacock, Chief Executive of @st.petrocs , who reflects on a shared ambition to create places where homes are more than buildings, they are the foundation for wellbeing, opportunity, and long‑term prosperity.

Our community-curated project with St Petrocs is continuing to grow! Together, we’ve been exploring works from the National Portrait Gallery collection through shared meals, conversations and making the most of the sunny days with inspiring trips to Morrab Gardens🌳. It’s been a joy to work alongside artist Theo Carter Webber, who has led creative sessions where participants have shared their own responses to artworks from the National Portrait Gallery @nationalportraitgallery We’re working with our community curators to build an exciting collection of artwork that will be showcased at 📍The Exchange in 2027, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone. 🖼️ This week, our Programme Curator & Learning Lead, Rebecca English, had the pleasure of presenting the project to Darren Henley and Phil Gibby from Arts Council England @aceagrams, during their visit. 💫It was a great opportunity to celebrate the project’s impact and the creativity of everyone involved. Read the story so far in the blog AROUND THE TABLE: REFLECTIONS FROM OUR COMMUNITY-CURATED PROJECT 🔗linked in our bio. Huge thanks to @st.petrocs for opening your doors and being so giving with your time, @pzcouncil for generous grant funding and The Headley Trust for supporting this project to date🙏🏾

St Petrocs - Supporting people facing homelessness in Cornwall 🙏 This week we have been getting another donation ready for St Petroc’s, who will be collecting it from us soon. After St Petroc’s put out an appeal for much needed sleeping bags and other essential items, we wanted to help. As a business, we have personally donated 10 new sleeping bags, hoping they’ll provide a little warmth and comfort to those who need them most. In June, Simon and I were invited to give a talk on compost and gardening to Devoran Gardening Club. As a thank you for our time, the club very kindly made a donation, and we felt there was no better way to use it than to buy another five sleeping bags for St Petroc’s. Alongside the sleeping bags, we’ve also filled a collection bin with clothing, toiletries and other essential items, all generously donated by our wonderful community of customers. A great big thank you to Devoran Gardening Club and to everyone who has supported our St Petroc’s collection. It’s amazing what can be achieved when a community comes together. Thank you for helping us support St Petroc’s. Together, we really can make a difference.

A little insight to a day with our MD, Rain! It’s safe to say that no two days are the same 🥾🌳🏢👷‍♀️ This week, Rain started the morning with one of our corporate partners at @st.petrocs ‘Networking in Nature’ event at the beautiful Trebah Garden, connecting with local businesses while supporting an incredible cause. From there, it was straight into site visits with commercial clients, discussing projects, building relationships, and helping businesses make the most of their spaces. It’s a great reminder that leadership isn’t just about being behind a desk - it’s about being out in the community, meeting people, understanding challenges and creating opportunities 🌱 #BrooksEstatesCommunity #DayInTheLife #PropertyManagement
