Adding a visual hook to a simple performance shot can be the difference between someone scrolling past or stopping to figure out how you did it.

For this shot, D Smoke performs in the foreground while a woman’s silhouette moves as his shadow. We locked the camera, filmed each performance separately, then masked the takes together in post. The flashes help reveal and hide the effect, making the shadow feel like it has a life of its own.
