How do we navigate friendships in the context of social change and increasing political divides? What does it mean to ground ourselves in concepts that are much older than us — nurturing our collective “garden of ideas”? And how do we move away from cancel culture and lovingly call one another in — to return and remember our shared values?

As the year gently winds down, I’m so honored to share my latest interview with adrienne maree brown (@adriennemareebrown), whose most recent book, Loving Corrections, is now available wherever books are sold.

✨Join us in this nourishing discussion to learn how to move through these troubled times with deeper rootedness and impact — without letting our possible overwhelm translate into desensitization or disengagement.

🌈Please reshare if it resonates!

💌 Whether it’s rain, snow, or sunshine, Minneapolis letter carriers with NALC Branch 9 and APWU Local 125 are on the community frontlines.

During “Operation Metro Surge”, when over 3,000 federal agents flooded neighborhoods across Minnesota, letter carriers still showed up.

In February, some of our members spoke with @revealnews about what they experienced navigating a city under siege by its own federal government. In March, the @laborreview adapted an excerpt from the podcast into a comic for the March print edition.

Read the digital version here, then listen to the full Reveal podcast episode at bit.ly/revealmpls 👈

💛 Warm gratitude and solidarity to the @revealnews team, especially reporters Artis Curiskis and Nate Halverson for amplifying the voices of working people in our beloved city — and for the permission to adapt your powerful work.

Excited to share my latest interview with Alexis Pauline Gumbs (@alexispauline), a Queer Black Feminist Love Evangelist, an aspirational cousin to all life, and the author of Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals. Her most recent book is Survival is a Promise: The Eternal Life of Audre Lorde.

These quotes are from the part of our discussion on the vibrational technology of echolocation as practiced by marine mammals.

I really resonated with how Alexis speaks of echolocation as a more expansive mindfulness — becoming more tuned in to how the sounds we put out, and the actions we take, then “bounce,” reflect, and ripple back to us.

This feels to be at the heart of our varied crises today — for a variety of reasons, many seemingly becoming more and more disconnected from and de-sensitized to the impacts that we create.

How do we deepen into the practice of echolocation as collective care?

🌈Join me and Alexis in this heartwarming discussion as we talk through inspirations from marine mammals, teachings from the artful life of Audre Lorde, the significance of what it means to survive, and more ~

This makes me think of how different catastrophes and crises are often weaponized to justify and push through certain “solutions” that not only do not address the root causes of the issues, but further exacerbates systemic injustices and harms (e.g., “greening” extraction).

Explore this in our latest interview with Sadiah Qureshi, a historian of science, race and empire ~

Bird Days of Summer by @staciebalkaran for @portlandaudubon evokes some thoughts: comfort in the idea of listening for woodpeckers or Brown Creepers through the summer wind tossing the cottonwood boughs overhead; that looking and listening for birds can be available to any femme enthusiast so long as she feels safe and secure in agency over her own body. This image by Stacie shows many women, most of them in company of other women, all of them in peace as they admire birds around them. Birding at its most basic is the observation without judgment or intrusion. Sure wish a certain court shared that ethic. #birdyourworld #womenwhobird #birdlikeagirl #womanwithbinoculars #staciebalkaran #portlandaudubon #birdlikeamother
