We came, we sniffed, we conquered!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to @indianladderfarmsciderybrewery to participate in the 10th annual @yakimachief Hop Rub event!

It was so wonderful seeing members of the NY chapters come together to help choose the Pink Boots hop blend this year!

The observations on the hop varieties were intuitive and so interesting to see how different each was. Cashmere, Willamette, and Talus were a few of the favorites, with grassy, floral, candy, and melon notes observed by some.

I’ve been working with the tourism agencies of Greene and Hudson Counties to promote my river cruises. Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting a film crew hired by Greene County to film in Coxsackie, Athens, and, of course, on board Honu. Joe Arcuri, two other photographers, and three “visitors” arrived at 9 AM and we headed upriver to Coxsackie. During the three-hour cruise, the “visitors” were staged for stills and video, making use of the passing scenery, including the historic @hudsonathenslighthouse. In Coxsackie, we tied up at the public floating dock, which became one of their filming locations. The crew then headed into town while I waited on board. Joe soon returned and asked me to join them for lunch, only to report that the town was pretty much closed. Apparently, Tuesday is the day many of the restaurants take a break. Although closed, the James Newbury Hotel allowed them to shoot some video there. Hungry for lunch, we searched for somewhere to eat and found the Coxsackie General Store, which offered a selection of prepared foods—and breve lattes!!!, to be open. Returning to Honu, we headed south, deciding to skip Athens as it was also largely closed for the day. Instead, we anchored near Middle Ground, the island between Hudson and Athens. Launched the kayaks, and the “visitors” headed out while the photographers worked from Honu and a drone capturing additional footage. Once everyone was back on board, we raised the anchor and continued south. Joe had hoped to get some sunset shots, but clouds had moved in and there wasn’t much of a sunset to work with, so we continued to Catskill. After a full day on the water, with plenty of stills and video and everyone having a great time, Honu was tied up and the crew headed ashore to begin the next phase—editing the material and putting together the promotional video. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product. Many thanks to Patty Austin and Greene County Tourism, and to Joe Arcuri and his crew, for the opportunity to give both locals and visitors a taste of the Hudson River and its surroundings from a different point of view. @honusailingadventures @joeyarcuri @hudsonriverhistoricboat

Local Americana act Reese Fulmer and the Carriage House Band took the stage at The Park Theater in Glens Falls for a laidback performance on Friday night. James Mullen tells you all about it over on our website, alongside a gallery of photos from our very own Staci Oswald.
