Today I feel so grateful for the beautiful people that I’ve met on my journey. So much of what fulfills me as a person is the connections I make with the people around me, and I’m so lucky to have been able to experience these beautiful humans. The last few weeks have been hard on me between having lung illness from smoke, having to skip a large section of the trail for my health, and struggling to see my own self worth amidst all of that. I have no clue how I would have been able to get through these challenges without the connections that I expiriencesd with the people pictured above. If I want to be really exceptional at anything, it’s expressing the love and gratitude that I have for my friends and so this is me doing that. I think too often we don’t express our love. We interact with the assumption that we will see that person again, not actually knowing if it’s true.
Years ago, I was going through a really rough period in my life that ended up causing me to be homeless, which turned out tobe the best thing that ever happened to me. Through that time in my life I found my love for slacklining and the outdoors. Without the love, support, and wisdom of the people I met in Santa Monica, I would surely not be where I am today. One of the people that always had really positive and helpful advice for me was an amazing man named Justin Keppler. He always had a way of helping me feel like I had the power and agency to change my situation for the better. Unfortunately recently I found out the he passed away and it got me thinking, “did he know how impactful he was in my life?” Today I wake up realizing I never want to ask myself that question again. So if you’re still reading this, I challenge you to express your love for the people in your life, because you really never know when it will be the last opportunity to do so.

Much Love,
Shane (Butterfingers)

A few experiences over the past year that I enjoyed while being a woman. And a few other women who have been kind enough to share their space with me. Thrilled to have found such treasures to spend this life with. 💛
