There's a point on every path where it pays to stop and listen. The instruction was 'go out and do something for yourself, now!'

Non-compliant as ever I started at home, with a 1981 #postpunk record by #ModernEon (a short lived coming together of Merseyside players) on which others recently heaped the highest praise.

And early in 2024 there is a HUGE buzz in the air:

@xmaldeutschland_official @huweanja and crew walked into the Hammersmith Clarendon ballroom pre-soundcheck and all the air left the room. Utterly unique, (very possibly from Glasgow), and propelled on by two #zickzack supercharged statements of heroic proportion, they were ready to present their new incarnation's masterpiece #fetisch on @4ad . #unforgettable. In the past week @sacredbones have made a huge announcement regarding their legacy. #RealGothsAreOld.

Seeing @andyfcharlotteroad and @rhyswebb reminded me #punkrock originally emerged from a vodka bottle in Scotland #Absolut #Horrorshow #sCars but not #Numan .

I read books too 🤯
Edward Bardsley was a mid-century designer of the finest Arts & Crafts era furniture, his vision and legacy is beautifully documented by researchers at his archive.

Likewise, of the many artists currently working in photography, few have demonstrated similar steadfast commitment to their stylistic paths. Some may know the unpublished works of @lithiumpears, and similarly under the radar, only 50 know this small format publication, the first #alicedellalphotography photozine. It dates from 2015 yet found itself on a charity store shelf. No surprise, unblemished and £2, I grabbed it #thrushmetal

Challenging journeys, artistic or literal, are frequent sources of writers' inspiration. The Empty Quarter, a post war treatise set in the deserts of Arabia, was another find #CurrentReading #RealBooksAreOld

On way to a Notting Hill eatery I learned the Music Exchange recently received a stunning collection including circa 600 review copy / promo CD albums. Typically £2 each, I grabbed 3. #TheZombies are on repeat, can't wait to hear #theyounggodsofficial

Finally, if your record has been hit by a tornado a repair project may ensue. #fun #grabbergrabberhey !
