As a prelude to Fable’s 18th birthday tomorrow (!!!) I’m posting excerpts from an essay she wrote last year about West End Girl for her youth fellowship program with clips from Lily Allen’s concert which I attended last week in celebration of @pshallow’s (Parvati is power incarnate!) birthday. This is the energy I’m leaning into right now. I refuse to let the bad behavior of men overshadow the strength, resilience and power of women’s voices in the face of misogyny, abuse and exploitation. May our daughters continue to call out what we could not. And may we continue to support the girls and women who wield their voices as swords against an institution that makes every attempt to paralyze, silence and control us. Thank you, @lilyallen. Thank you, @fable.luella. Thank you to the brave journalists at Cornell and every other woman on earth who uses her words. ❤️‍🔥
