Brown Love 🤎

This is a project that depicts brown love in its purest form: with tenderness, belonging, and everything in-between. It acts as a celebration and embrace of a wide scope of relationships from the South Asian diaspora, centering brown women in a position of agency rather than submission. The vibrant, hand-painted backdrops serve as a safe space for both love and liberation— an escape from a world that is ridden with suppression and convention.

This is our love story.

“Brown Love” is on view at @microscope_gallery in Chelsea, NYC from Feb 12-23rd!

Happy 25th birthday to the baddest bitch, my best friend, & platonic life partner. Short story: someone asked me how close me & Miranda are and I said “ya know it’s funny, I’ve known her for less than a year, & yet she’s like the whole reason i moved, just so we could continue being roommates.” Bc home is where the homies are!! Period!! When Miranda went back home to California for a MONTH (aka DESERTED ME!!) and ppl would ask how I’m doing I literally would say “my life force is dwindling bc I haven’t seen Miranda in so long.” Thank u for making me laugh, literally coming to my dates and sitting a little ways off when i go out w someone i think is questionable, brunching, lunching, cooking w me, going grocery shopping w me, taking videos of me when I’m dancing in the streets, and never judging me and always loving me ❤️❤️❤️ there’s honestly no one else I’d rather share a birthday with!! Also ur v lucky bc i had way more embarrassing pics/vids of you/us on my phone but i shared mostly all the good ones. Love ya soul sister (literally y’all we were born at almost exactly the same time on the same day of the same year), i know 25 is gonna be the best one yet!!! HAGS never change.
