It was such an honor to welcome a living legend of architecture, along with such prestigious international institutions !

On June 18th in Venice, Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Fabriano, the Grand Palais Rmn, Rupture Venezia, and the Wilmotte Foundation presented 1.618, the architect’s new stationery collection inspired by the golden ratio.

An internationally renowned architect, urban planner, and designer, and a member of the Academy of Fine Arts, Jean-Michel Wilmotte is known for his creative vision imbued with geometry, precision, and light. His passion for drawing and his long-standing connection with Fabriano paper have given rise to a collection designed for lovers of art, architecture, design, and sketching.

The collection was unveiled at Libreria Rupture Venezia, a unique cultural space dedicated to art, architecture, and independent publishing—a true artistic and creative hub in the heart of Venice.

Pools, pools
Pools, so many
Pools and somehow
I’m not drowning in
Any of them, No, theirs
Is the tar I bathe in
Pits, where lovers
Deigned to stand, wholly
Affected, wrought,
Contorted, motioning
Along the vines, in serpentine
Embraces, bending
Sepulchral wrists, asynchronous
Touches, meeting
Their glances, as the
Hills weep
Bereft of
Auspice

Wash me,
Off

https://venezianews.it/stories/pane-arte-e-fantasia-rupture-arts-books-a-venezia/

Screening tonight, 7 August
Doors open 8pm, screening 9:30pm

Hosted by @stallmann.galleries
w/ works by @hairygaze @huawang_wanghua @rcagnes @_tang_han
curated by @alexia_timmermans & @savciucaa

A tree tells its own story. A furnace remembers what it once burned. A body made of code refuses the binary it was built on. This screening brings together works in which landscapes, infrastructures, and intimacies slip away from what we usually call reality, through virtual renderings, invented biologies, and mythic timelines that open perspectives beyond the human.

The videos share a semi-documentary sensibility. They borrow the language of observation, archive, and field recording, with the steady voice of science and the supposed neutrality of the camera and the screen. That language bends toward fiction, myth, and speculation until the works become small laboratories for creating other ways of telling a world.

Plot twist: you’re about to discover your new favorite book 📖

This summer Rupture Venezia team members share 10 must-reads. First up: founder Alexandre Sap’s selection!

« I have written several essays, including one on beauty. I shamelessly borrowed the phrase "beauty is nothing but the promise of happiness" from Stendhal to use as the title of my book—an essay in which I attempt to demonstrate that we, as disseminators of cultural models, have a social responsibility to place beauty back at the heart of all our concerns. The word "Rupture" stems from my background in international advertising; my own "rupture" involved breaking away from the system to build a network of cultural venues around the Mediterranean. The Dries Van Noten Foundation’s book and my selection resonate deeply with the spirit of Van Noten’s inaugural presentation. I also highly recommend Vadim Grygorian’s remarkable work—my bible—as well as *Purple* (conceived 30 years ago by my friend Olivier Zahm) and the powerful essay « Lathe Biosas » by Francesca Sarah Toich. Perhaps the most beautiful book I have ever had the pleasure of presenting is Karl Kolbitz’s « Divine Presence », alongside the wonderful exhibition catalogue « Citizens, Bürger » by my friend Andrew Huston and the highly poetic catalogue for Julien Creuzet’s exhibition at the last art biennial. Finally, a personal favorite is *Venice between Kitchen and Atelier* by Zaira Zarotti, produced by Pamela Berry. »
