Guided by precision and the exploration of flavour, Module is a deliberately small team of experts pushing boundaries in the coffee industry. Each coffee is released in limited quantities and never repeated. @standardformat_ developed a flexible visual identity and packaging system that shaped the brand’s wider presence, from tone of voice to the website which will be launching soon. For the packaging, they collaborated with Consult and worked closely with G.F Smith to source archived papers from their collection. The result is an eclectic colour palette that reflects the exclusive nature of each release while making use of materials that might otherwise have gone unused. Module is a limited-release Edinburgh roastery with packaging designed by @standardformat_, which builds its entire system around the visual language of utility objects, referencing toolboxes and luggage through a rigid kraft board box. For the first series, the sleeves were printed on discontinued paper stocks sourced from G.F. Smith, a design decision as conceptually rich as anything happening in contemporary art publishing right now. The frosted three-layer inner bags mirror the same die-cut handhold as the outer box, creating a relationship between every component in the system. Link in bio for the full article.
