Composer, Drummer, Song Writer, Music Producer

An award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist, Stanley’s career spans record production, touring, remixes, commercials, short films, web series, documentaries, feature films, soundtracks, and television. A proud LA (Compton) native, he majored in music at nearby Cal State University, Long Beach. Smith began his career writing & producing Billboard charting songs, touring (drummer) with well-known artists, and eventually finding his niche- composing music for film & television.

Stanley latest project was creating a hybrid and highly nuanced original score for the greatly anticipated and first authorized scripted series about boxer and activist Muhammad Ali, The Greatest. From producers Lonnie Ali, Ben Watkins’ and Michael B. Jordan, it premiers November 4th on Prime Video.

Smith’s other recent work includes: The award-winning feature documentary Betye Saar: Ready To Be a Warrior, the latest documentary about 99-year-old, legendary assemblage artist (Best Feature Documentary City of Angels Film Festival & Studio City Int. Film Festival). Season 2 of Ava DuVernay/ARRAY Filmworks, one-hour anthology series Cherish The Day (OWN). Kemba-the MPI Original Films/BET feature based on Kemba Smith’s life story (Audience Choice Best Film-St. Louis Int. Film Festival, Award of Merit True Story Depiction, Fort Lauderdale Int. Film Festival & Amplify Award-Windrider Film Showcase), and The Real Red Tails, narrated by Sheryl Lee Ralph- NatGeo documentary special about the heroic Tuskegee Airmen (2025 ASCAP Composers Choice Award Nominee).

With over 260+ episodes of TV under his belt- other series highlights include: Ice Cube’s Are We There Yet? (TBS), Let’s Stay Together (BET) 2015 ASCAP Screen Music Award, and the ground-breaking hit series Bernie Mac Show FOX). All of which he scored, performed and wrote the main title themes.

Jordan’s Outlier Society, Roc Nation, and Polygram Entertainment. The series tells the real story of the GOAT, Muhammad Ali. April 2025. It was quite the month, with some of the highest highs and the absolute lowest low. I decided to share some of joy that April 2025 brought me, from Coachella to industry events with clients to family time to celebrating a weekend-long [redacted] birthday. Everything after April 16 has felt like it’s been experienced through a dark cloud, but we manage to continue finding the joy in life while we grieve, and we appreciate all of the love from our friends and everyone around us.

If you joined our wedding remotely, one of the trivia questions asked which artist had neither of us had seen live, and the answer was @charli_xcx. Almost 4 years later, we were very excited to finally cross that off our list last month, and she was the highlight of our Coachella weekend! 💚

Always fun to reunite with the greatest composers working today. And lovely to celebrate my Elizabeth Taylor score being nominated for Best Documentary Soundtrack of the Year. Now back to work for the next one!
