💡LIGHTS, CAMERA, GAME ON! 💡

Big news for Westport athletes! After months of discussion and debate, the Planning & Zoning Commission voted 4-1 to approve permanent lights at Wakeman Turf Field (next to Bedford Middle School) and PJ Romano Field (behind Saugatuck Elementary School)!

This is a big win for our town’s athletes, from Staples teams to our younger players, who will now have more opportunities to practice and play, especially in the fall and early spring when daylight is limited and field space is tight! ⚽️ 🏈 🥍

Of course, there are rules in place to be mindful of surrounding neighbors. Lights must be turned off by 9 p.m., with an additional 30 minutes of dimmed lighting for safe exits. No Sunday games or multi-game tournaments will be permitted, and field use will be limited to school and @westportparksandrec_ct activities.

This long awaited decision will benefit thousands of Westport kids and keep them playing the sports they love a little longer!
