Met Gala Weekend 2025 activities- i truly am one of one 🤍. Black Dandy Edition.

This year I was truly so excited for this upcoming met gala theme and being apart of the Dine With Dez team when they mentioned doing a potential black excellence Met dinner I knew everything was truly aligned. I immediately had an idea to do a sort of exhibition visual showcasing archival work & photography that represents the history of black dandyism & fashion history of black culture . TY SM to @blackgirlsinarchives & @dine_with_dez for letting this idea come to life🙏🏾✨. Being able to showcase the history thru archives & having the opportunity to be in the Black Girl Archive presentation with selects from my Florida Dandies project is surreal !

God is bringing ya girl off the sidelines to the main field 🙏🏾💕✨ so give me my TENS 👉🔟

I've had this idea to do a editorial shoot in honor of the 2025 met gala theme “Super Fine tailoring: black tailoring” since last February and started researching last month in March. As someone who’s family especially my papa is known for his stylish looks this met gala theme this year felt like a joyful homecoming and being back home in FL for spring break felt like the moment to pay homage to people like my papa and my uncles who are fly and stay fitted. The matriarchs of my family dress down as well and my nanas, aunties and mom all stay fly. Majority of the pieces I styled were borrowed from my family all suits personally from my papas suit collections, my Nana & aunts church hats & jewelry/ broaches from momma.

Black fashion & our influence is forever& everywhere.

The toggle buckle, characterized by its bar and loop design, was popularized in the mid-20th century, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. The buckles restrict movement in an allegorical interpretation of a caged beast. Human hair tracks were sewn into the darting of the cape to give a foreboding or “fur” motif.

As we come to the end of @thegigorlando , I just want to say thank you to my amazing team of friends who helped, encouraged, and reminded me to be the best that I can be weekly for each challenge. I love the four of them so much and I’m extremely grateful to have them in my corner. 🥹❤️
