Song used:
Every N****r is a star (Boris Gardiner)

In shadows deep, where whispers lie, A system’s touch, a knowing sigh.
It claims support, a gentle hand, But leaves a bruise across the land.
They speak of order, progress bright, Yet for me, it’s a fading light.
A lover’s grasp, so fierce and bold, Demanding all, a story old.
Promises whispered, soft and low, But in their eyes, denial’s show.
My worth debated, day by day, As history casts its heavy sway.
Each step I take, a weighty chain, Invisible, yet filled with pain.
A battle waged, both in and out, To guard my joy, dispel all doubt.
My spirit yearns for peace, for grace, In a world that seeks to erase.
The exhaustion deep, a weary plea, To prove my right, just to be me.
My humanity, my mind, my soul, Constantly questioned, taking its toll.
Yet, rage it simmers, deep and true, Not wild, but steady, seeing me through.
A diamond forged in fires intense, Shining brighter, my fierce defense. Against the gaslight, cold and stark, I rise, a beacon in the dark.
This toxic dance, it won’t define, My self-love blossoms, truly divine.
For ancestors past, and those to come, I will not break, I overcome.
Not just exist, but truly bloom, Dispelling shadows, chasing gloom.
