Artist Andrew Isadore Calderon dares the public to come to @starlightstudiobuffalo’s summer show tonight and challenge their assumptions of people with disabilities in the arts.

“I challenge people on a daily basis to come through here, and to okay, come in, come in here with all kinds of opinions about people with disabilities, the R word, all this and that, [they're] dead wrong. Okay, come in here and see that we are artists. What we do is for real. We love what we do," Calderon said.

Calderon, a visual artist and poet, is one of the original and longest-participating artists at Starlight, which opened in 2005.

Starlight Studio & Art Gallery's Star-tastic Summer Art Show & Sale opens tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 340 Delaware Ave. Fifty percent of art sales goes to the artist, and 50 percent goes back into programs at the gallery, which include collaborations with Stitch Buffalo and AKG Art Museum, workshops and other opportunities.

The art will be on display until Sept. 18.

Our very own Starlight Artist, Chace Lobley, worked in the town square, showcasing his unique Lego sculpting abilities.

Chace was inspired by the new exhibition at the @buffaloakgartmuseum called One With Eternity: Yayoi Kusama.
