As I finally wind down for the evening, I can’t help but reflect on the news about Ohio schools remaining closed for the rest of the school year. Although it’s now been a month of distance learning & I knew there was a strong possibility of this outcome, I now find myself in my feelings about it! 😢 I feel sad about not seeing my seniors and that I will not be able to give them formal goodbyes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for our weekly scheduled google meet ups, where we are able to see one another’s faces, share our experiences, analyze our learning & lift one another up, but there is nothing like physically being in their presence, acknowledging their growth while laughing with them, challenging them to think deeper & embracing them in love. Also, due to the variety of everyone’s schedules, I have students that I literally have not seen since the last day we let out. I hope that these last few weeks garners more opportunities for me to connect with as many of them as possible. If you know me as an educator, you know that I sincerely value my relationships with my students and there was so much more I wanted to give, learn and experience this year with these beautiful human beings transitioning into young adulthood. I have so much love for them and I want them to know that as we continue to maneuver through this uncharted and difficult time, they are all special beings with a powerful purpose. This time will pass but their impact will last forever! I’m proud to be their teacher, friend and supporter. I am always here; forever & always. 🙏🏾♥️✨ #classof2020 #2020vision #ilovemystudents #proudeducator #blackstudiesmatter #memoriestolastalifetime
