I am THAT grateful. Exactly one year since I was on that @startmate_aunz demo day stage as a one woman show, pitching for my first VC cheque.

Exactly one year later, I am stood up in front of my team of 13 presenting our 2027 roadmap.

Keep doing the things that scare you !!

I had heard of @ycombinator before but I hadn't really considered applying to them. I knew when I first had my idea and I started building the product that I should probably start looking at some form of start up accelerator to help me. And so I looked up Y Combinator, thinking I could glean some ideas from them. Looked at their FAQ section then just saw a few things that really caught my eye. And they really encouraged people to apply even if you just had an idea and you didn't have any revenue or any customers. They also stress that it takes 3, 4, 5 times sometimes to apply and get accepted. Not always the case but also not uncommon. It was really nice going through the process and they were asking all the right questions about my idea. I wasn't accepted. But that was the beginning of me really thinking about revenue streams or commercial validation: will anyone or businesses pay for this social media platform? Given that is how social media works, their main revenue stream is from businesses paying them ad revenue. Anyway fast forward to today: I have a lot clearer product offering. My customer segmentation is crisp. And so now I'm just building out the backend of the product. And talking to all the potential stakeholders, which include businesses, creators, and users. I've actually found another startup organisation that helps founders get their ideas and business off the ground (@startmate_aunz ) and I was in a live webinar of theirs tonight explaining how to apply to them. Applications are due by November 1 so I'm going to start chipping away at that. They encourage just submitting the application whenever and you can chip away at it and refine it all the way up until November 1. I think I'm a lot better positioned this time around versus when I applied to Y Combinator only about a month ago. I'm a lot clearer on the product offering and what I'm trying to do.

Last weekend I had 60 seconds to pitch my AI grocery startup to Startmate. No slides.

The night before, one talk flipped how I think about customer interviews. Stop asking people if they like your idea, and start looking for where you’re wrong.

So at midnight in a hotel room, I rebuilt my whole pitch 😅 Part 2 is how those 60 seconds actually went.

Send this to the friend who keeps “validating” their startup idea 👀

Everyone has a different take on hiring red flags..

We partnered with @startmate_aunz to ask recruiters, founders, partners and more 1 question:

What makes you say no to a candidate?

Some answers might hit a little too close to home 👀

The search begins

I have just under 2 weeks to find a problem worth solving.

I am going to bring these problems to the @startmate_aunz bootcamp in Melbourne October 1-2nd, in the hope of building towards a solution to present at the start mate accelerator program.

Let’s go make some money moves
