CENS TAKE FALCONS TO OVERTIME IN THRILLING MATCHUP!

The Ayr Centennials welcomed the St. Catharines Falcons, the Eastern Conference’s second-place team, on Thursday night for an exciting battle that went all the way to overtime.

For the 11th consecutive game, the Cens opened the scoring!

Bianchini opened the scoring with an end-to-end rush, beating the goaltender off the far post. Ayr added a shorthanded goal late in the period as Jones-McDonald set up Atkinson to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

After St. Catharines cut the lead to one, Mitchell restored the two-goal cushion with a great individual effort. The Falcons answered just 36 seconds later, but Cunningham-Louks found the back of the net with only 19.7 seconds remaining to give Ayr a 4-2 lead heading into the third.

The Falcons battled back, scoring twice in the final minutes, including the tying goal with just 47.4 seconds remaining to force overtime. St. Catharines then scored just 21 seconds into OT to secure the win.

Although the final result wasn’t what CENSNATION hoped for, Ayr has now taken both the first- and second-place teams in the Eastern Conference to overtime. The Cens continue to show progress and compete hard, proving there’s plenty of exciting hockey ahead!
