All the details, sometimes hand crafted, gives us just a little insight. No one person the same, everyone with a personal touch, but probably more importantly a special touch that can only come from the individual: love. All the good & bad times, the artifacts we remember, the tiny little moments in the grand scope of time; all condensed into a tiny little show box. We hope to see you on the 29th, be sure to take a moment and wonder what these things mean. They are tiny artifacts to the casual viewer, but they were in fact someone important for the person making the altar. Take your time. 10am-2pm for STC 5-7pm open to the public Bring your family and friends, all are welcome. See you there.

The significance of altars is highly subjective and personal. Not one is the same. All the objects in there are just a little glimpse, or a rather a window, it’s a who these people were. Sometimes it’s the little details, such as closeness or overly crammed altar can seem like a tiny mistake or questionable choice, but often times holds a deeper meaning. So when you stop by October 29th at Building H (old cafeteria), be sure to stop for a bit and ponder the choices made. They can be a lot deeper and meaningful than we realize. 10am-2pm for STC 5-7pm open to the public See you there

Every student alter made for the Dia de Los Muertos Festival has a story. In Spanish, the word is “ofrenda”, is a secret, temporary home built to welcome the spirits of the deceased loved ones back to the living world on November 1 and 2nd. Rather than a place of warning, it is a joyful celebration of life, memory, and family reunion. In this case, there was a car accident and the whole family has passed away. But as we mentioned earlier, it’s a time for rejoicing or celebration of their life. A moment to remember the good times we had with them. More altar interviews to drop soon. To check them out in person, be sure to mark a calendar for October 29th 10 AM - 2 PM for STC & 5 PM - 7 PM open to the public
