The one and only Dominic Miller sharing a hilarious anecdote about his birthplace, Argentina! 😂🇦🇷

Captured live during his UK 2026 Tour stop at @bandonthewall , Manchester, the crowd couldn't help but laugh along. There’s truly nothing better than world-class music paired with great humor and storytelling.

Ever wondered how a tiny desk concert comes to life?

We had the absolute pleasure and honour of being invited to the recording of a stunning mini-concert by the incredible Spanish artists Rita Payés and Lucía Fumero at 5dB Studios right here in London.

Captured across 13 cameras with a proper special atmosphere, brilliant food, drinks, and a lovely reunion with friends and colleagues from across the music industry.

A proper unforgettable evening.

What a fantastic couple of days! 🎬
I was honored to rub shoulders with and learn from some of the absolute gurus of the film industry.
Huge thanks to @aco_uk for running such an incredible workshop! I’ve definitely sharpened my operating skills on telescopic cranes and stabilised heads; super ready for some complicated shots! 🎥🔥

Meet the makers: Daphne Schmon - Director

The creative architect behind #TheEyeFilm, meet director, @daphneschmon! Pictured in the high vis jacket on set with steadicam operator @steadimax during the filming of 'The Eye' in Corfu.

"The Eye is both a love letter to the island where my family are from and an exploration of the dark psychological impulses surrounding grief," says Daphne.

"Working with such a deeply talented cast and crew on my first feature was an unforgettable honour. Their dedication, generosity, and passion left a lasting impact that I’ll always be grateful for."

Daphne Schmon is an award-winning director and founder of Breaking Through The Lens initiative. Her work includes the documentary feature ‘Children of the Wind', which won 8 awards in the film festival circuit and narrative short ‘Tiny Vessels’ which won Best Film at Berlin Liftoff. Time to add STEADICAM to my skill set and kit-list!
+
During this quiet year, I’ve been relentlessly working in the background. Countless hours of Steadicam training and many months of practicing and improving techniques to get to the point where I feel confident to put it out there. After a year of practice, it can now all start: a new career, a new adventure.
I’m excited to shoot your next projects, whether with a steadicam or not, always bringing my heart and passion!

Throughout the year, you may have seen me selling gear used during my five years as a focus puller, acquired through tears, sweat, and countless hours of hard work. Now, everything finally come together!

I owe my progress to the many who supported me along the way. A big thank you to those who provided opportunities over the years. My steadicam journey started quietly a year ago, and I want to express gratitude to those who helped me along the way:
- @opticalsupport where I practiced weekly, gaining invaluable knowledge.
- @ben_ryanh and @jossrohnstone for their expertise and support.
- @steadimax a brilliant teacher who instilled the confidence to begin my steadicam journey.
- @steadiseb and @cinetex_ltd for custom inserts for my Pro vest, top-notch products.
- @mrallsop @tom_colli @benjamineeley @marchill.aco for their tips and tricks.
- @gabriellehe_ for training alongside me and motivating me.
- Daisy @looptalentcrew for believing in me and pushing me towards my career goals.
- @focuscanning and @correia.marga for providing additional training space and gear.
- @aco_uk for offering insights through workshops and group chats.
+
Thanks to everyone who supported me in my journey. And to those I still have to work with, share drinks with, and laugh with, I’m looking forward to see where the future takes us!

What a weekend we had at the BSC Show 2023! Thank you so much to everyone who came to see us at our stand to find out more about our Association and what we represent. It was great to see familiar faces but also inspiring to meet students and ACs looking to connect with us and begin their journey into the world of Camera Operating. Thank you to Ilana Garrard and the Events committee for planning and setting up the stand. Thank you also to all our members who volunteered to take shifts on the stand. Thank you to Tanya Marar and the magazine team for hustling the hard copies out in time for the show. Thank you also to Jasper Van Gheluwe for organising the showreels for our members. And of course thanks to Sham Whittaker, our Secretary for her everpresent involvement. See you next year!
