I am pleased to share that *Giving Back the Fruits* has been accepted into the East Los Angeles Film Festival and will be screened on October 4th. This film documents Marlene Benites’ daily life as a street vendor, offering an intimate glimpse into her routine and personal story. The art of listening extends beyond the artist, the protagonist, or the setting. It involves the audience, who play a vital role by receiving the message with love and openness. This piece is part of my ongoing research to promote love, foster open dialogue, and cultivate empathy during these challenging times. Tickets for the festival can be purchased through the link in my bio. The screening will take place on October 4th. This Saturday we said good-bye to our beloved, Shelby. She was our sweetheart and filled our lives with so many adventures over the 13yrs she was with us. She made it to the office many days and was always by my side when I worked from our home studio. I’d like to thank my dear friend @stebnershow for this video from our brand shoot last year. I KNOW IT’S SCARY. I know how triggering it is to go “live” and only 1 person is listening as your cheeks get red hot and you stumble your words. ⁣ ⁣ I know your palms will be sweaty as you press “post” on that first offer online as you imagine your friends you used to get drunk with judging - “who is she to teach that?”⁣ ⁣ I know you worry if anyone will buy from you, or even like you, after you speak up and share your truth to the world. ⁣ ⁣ I know you want to judge your hair, your skin, your teeth, your forehead and your lighting....but here’s what else I know —> YOU ARE NECESSARY. ⁣ ⁣ Whatever it is that you’re working up the courage to share, it’s NEEDED. ⁣ ⁣ This photo was snapped by @missemmacole when I was on set with @stebnershow back in August 2015. ⁣ ⁣ What you can’t see is the glass of Pinot Grigio tucked behind my chair to ease my panic. ⁣ ⁣ I was preparing to come out publicly about big truths I managed to hide for nearly a decade. Truths that hurt to hide, literally made me sick. I thought if people knew, they wouldn’t love me. ⁣These truths are now my TESTIMONY. ⁣ This was my “coming out” video, still on YouTube. I announced why I wanted to help women and I felt fear until it went live Oct 1st! What I learned is that freedom is found in authenticity and ever since I’ve been an open book. ⁣ To be fully expressed is to be fully alive. ⁣ ⁣ We are born to help one another. In sharing our stories and gifts we become the alchemist in someone else’s life. Our power to help others is profound. ⁣ ⁣ Honor the urge to share. Your message is necessary.
