Where do I begin? The past 18 months I have raced:
3 70.3 triathlons
2 Olympic triathlons
2 sprint Triathlons
1 1/2 marathon
1 7 miler run
5 5K runs
1 swim meet

I have learned so much about myself in the two years of endurance triathlon training. It’s all about your mindset, sure some of it’s physical, it’s the WANT to wake up 4:00am to ride your bike indoors for 3 hours before work; the WANT to jump in the pool when it’s sub 0 degrees outside; the WANT to run after work; to HAVE to say no to weekend plans cause you have 4 hour ride Saturday and a 12+ mile run on Sunday. During my 2 years of training for this sport; I truly believe that if you really want it, you will do anything for it.

I have had A LOT of obstacles along the way: last place female for the French Creek triathlon, DNS 70.3 Musselman 2025; 1st wedding venue closed right after we booked it; witnessing a death at a race, and a pregnancy loss.

I had to shift my whole mindset this year. 2026 was planned for me to be come an Ironman, but becoming a mom came first, unfortunately we became the statistic in the 1 in 4 who will experience a pregnancy loss. That goal of becoming an Ironman this year was gone because I wanted to train for it and when we loss the baby at the end of January, I just wasn’t in the right mindset and physical condition to start back into full IM training. It took me probably until this past Saturday; that I’m at peace with the loss. If you are suffering through a loss, I see you, I understand, and I am here for you. It truly does get better but it takes a lot of time.

Alright, let’s dive into Saturday’s 70.3 race. Kinetic nailed it, from allowing me to get into transition an hour early to having a burrito bowls for the athletes post race. The swim was unique, there was a sandbar you hit 3 times and I porpoise (like a dolphin) and passed so many people, there was a current and the turns buoys were a bit congested. When I got out of the water, the race official said I was top 10 female. My reaction was AH!
