Size Matters | #TheArtHype
.
Earlier this year I met @treumun_paint while speaking at a @creativemorning + @cm_dc event at @kennedycenter. It was a surprise when last month he asked me to perform spoken word based on the art show he was curating at @homme_dc.
.
It came as a shock. I mean I love to creatively write in my personal time but I had never performed in front of a crowd. In fact a lot of people don’t know I write. They may get glimpses in these captions.
.
Size matters was such an interesting topic and in the wake of last weeks elections I was happy to let some energy off. Write timing. (See what I did there.)
.
I know I didn’t advertise the activation like I prolly should have but I just wanted things to flow organically. To those that pulled up, THANK YOU.

Opening night (on film).

---
I've found myself gravitating more toward simple point and shoots for film. Whether its the Olympus XA I took to France or my grandmother's old 1995 Canon Sureshot with the date stamp back. The lack of control paired with the unpredictability of film gives these point and shoot shots their own character, and helps me focus more on connecting with people than camera settings.

Here are some from the Canon, developed and scanned at this weekend's demo day for @dupontphotowalk.

Over the years, I’ve been more intentional about who I photograph. Capturing loved ones has always been a challenge for me, but I’ve been working to push past that. My first step has been photographing people I admire, those who inspire me. After shooting some incredible individuals in the restaurant industry, I wanted to turn my lens toward friends who are artists. This series was made possible thanks to @treumun_paint who welcomed me to collaborate with his latest exhibit. The first artist I had the privilege of photographing is @steffresh a jewelry designer whose work blends his love for traditional Japanese sewing techniques with contemporary craftsmanship. His pieces for this exhibit were nothing short of extraordinary.
