I think it’s obvious, but sometimes it’s easy to forget: MKC is nothing without the folks who make it happen. 💙🛶✨🌞

Behind every day on the river, every meal served, every clean room, every lesson, every laugh, and every happy paddler is a whole lot of hard work from an incredible team.

We work hard to get folks on the river, keep them well fed, make them feel at home, and hopefully send them away with a little more love for whitewater than they arrived with.

Thank you so much, MKC Team 2026!! We couldn’t do it without you. ❤️🌊

The paddles splash, the herons soar,
Adventure awaits at every shore.
At MKC, where the rapids run,
We mix hard work with heaps of fun.

From river to office, from kitchen to field,
Each gift you have given, each moment revealed.
Together you’ve crafted a season so fine,
With laughter and labor, with heart intertwined.

They chef, they write, they laugh, they lead,
They paddle swift and plant the seed.
Of confidence, of grit and of grace,
Leaving a smile on most every face.

Here’s to the crew, so brave and so bold,
The tales you’ve lived will long be told.
Your spirit, your passion, your joy shining through,
This season’s success is because of you.

One year ago we were in Canada. With our camper ☺️ @overlandershipping . A picture-book adventure: three weeks on the road, three weeks kayak camp @madawaskakanu . A week of whitewater course, amazing festivals, fabulous kitchen shifts, rafting, waterfalls, best dance at MidMadFest…– memories that still make us grin like crazy.

Looking back, the kids seem so little in the photos – yet they grew more in those weeks than in months at home. Within days they paddled whitewater in their own kayaks, made friends and spoke more English than German for weeks. Even our youngest joined the staff table @ashsmithart 😁 and chatted away – of course.

They learned that so many things are possible if we truly want them, that we can move past doubts and fears, and trust that things will work out; that being brave can be the beginning of something truly wonderful – and that nothing lasts forever, because everything can change again, just like the water level in a river, hopefully for the better.

Really? Did they learn all of that?
Certainly not. Children are naturally excellent at all of this – much more intuitively and effortlessly than we adults. We got to (re)learn it, and we are still learning, with them and from them.

For them, the idea of taking the camper to Canada was never crazy. Managing a 24-hour journey with a long-haul flight as a mom alone with three kids? Sure. Visiting dad at work in his third season? Yes. So we just did it. And it was the best decision ever. Trust instead of doubt. Love instead of fear. 🫶🏼

In another year, nothing will be the same again. Everything changes – take your chances. Be curious. So much is possible.

„What if I fall?“- “But what if you fly, darling?“

When you make a choice – ask yourself: is it doubt, or is it trust? Is it fear, or is it love?

Always love. ♥️k

>>1000 hugs to all of you, mkc crew! 🫶🏼miss you!!! <<<

Dreamy trip with my Dad and sister. Layered with a bit of sickness stress and low energy levels, we were still together in an unbelievable place.

Thanks @battleabbeybackcountrylodge for treating us like royalty - what an absolute treat that was. 👸 So impressed with all the work you have all done.
