Takeaways from my performance @mountainwestchampionship this past weekend
📸 @metcalfmedia_

First and foremost, @stellahenkle is the best support system I could ever ask for. The perfect complement to my “just send it” mentality, Stella is there helping work out the logistics to my half-baked plan. From checking in each time we left for the venue to make sure I had my belt/knee sleeves/grips etc., to prepping food for me, to being there, front and center, cheering me on every event, I couldn’t do it without you honey❤️. Thank you for pouring into me this past weekend and giving me the ability to perform my best

Secondly, the community I have around me cares so much and has my back in an amazing way. Shoutout to Tim Henry for making me these sick @frontlinecrossfit jerseys so I can rep my favorite gym every event. Thank you to all the friends and family that tuned into the @bfriendlyfitness livestreams to cheer me on from back home, and all the encouraging texts and messages all weekend!

I capitalized well on my strengths this weekend and was able to maximize the points where I could make them. 2nd in a sandbag toss, 3rd in a heavy snatch event, and 3rd in a ring muscle up/handstand workout were my standout performances this weekend. I took the floor with confidence, executed well, and was able to squeeze just about every spot on the leaderboard that I could on these events.

Going into this weekend, I felt like my strength and gymnastics were in the best place they’ve ever been. Not quite the same with my lungs. On the remaining workouts, I gave what I had, but my aerobic capacity was not enough to hang with all the fit boys I was up against. A 16th in the Run Hang Squat Clean, a 21st in Friday Night Lights, and a 24th in Burn It Down were enough to drag me back down the leaderboard. Hey, that’s why we do this. Weaknesses spotted, time to work on them

Overall, I took 7th this past weekend. @mountainwestchampionship was a fantastic event. It was run so professionally, I had some amazing judges, heats were on time, and the athlete experience was phenomenal. @brianfriendfitness crushed the livestream, it was so cool being able to share the competition experien

started at the 2017 teenage @crossfitgames now we’re hereee👏🏼

it’s a privilege & a blessing to be on your team and in your corner @spraguerrrr !!🐅

The now 2x champion people see on the floor is a reflection of the way James carries himself every single day, approaching everything in life with intention, energy, and full effort every time no matter the circumstances, pouring into the people around him, operating out of a joyful heart, and keeping Jesus at the center of it all. Seeing this over the years and now in person every day has blessed my life in more ways than I can count and made it easy to see the how and why of not one but two gold medals.

I couldn’t be prouder of ya if I tried buddy @spraguerrrr

Wouldn’t trade this team for the world, thank you Jesus ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

also, @brute.strength vs everybody

couldn’t be prouder of my friends and every bit of work that’s gone into this season of @crossfitgames prep. It’s been an absolute blessing getting to be a part of it and be able to look around and see your entire group of friends chasing big goals and making each other better in every way.

it’s officially game week & @spraguerrrr @maddoxmetcalf3 @zoe_fiala & @geriatriccrossfitguy are ready for war 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

“a sound mind is disciplined with the thoughts that it accepts as truth”

One of the biggest changes I made this year was being intentional with putting in work on the mental game. So much of being an athlete is what goes on inside your mind and coming into this season I noticed my thoughts had become so negative - based on fear & doubt which was affecting how I was performing.

Now on the other side of what I would call my most successful and enjoyable season yet, these were the truths, ideas, & quotes that became my anchors and were repeated over and over in my journal throughout the last few months.

Doubt and fear are a part of the game but I encourage you to find your own anchors that help you get out of your own way & not be ruled by the negative thoughts when they come 🤍

Online Semifinals to round out the ‘26 @crossfitgames season❤️‍🔥🐎

So much room to grow & things to work on for next season and it’s so easy to dwell on all the goals I still want to accomplish rather than see all the things I’m becoming and doing right now. Every single competition this year I showed up as a fitter, stronger, fiercer version of me than the last & I’ve never been more confident in or excited for the work ahead.

Thank you Jesus for the opportunity this season was and every single person in my life who makes chasing this dream a reality and believes in me more than I believe in myself sometimes. This was my NINTH (???!!) CrossFit season and somehow it feels like I’m just getting started🫣

& we’re off to sacramento!! @northern_california_classic

It’s been a big month of prep & I’ve woken up every single day excited to get in the gym with my friends and work as hard as possible. Thank you Jesus for this life!!!

I couldn’t be more excited and grateful for another opportunity to step out on the floor and chase my dreams this weekend.

Almost that time !!!

5/7/26

Today marks the last day of my final ever teenage semi finals. I could not be more excited to leave it all out there and let God work through me.

Thank you to so many people who have made this year possible and made me fall in love with the sport in a whole new way.
