DMV, time is running out! ⏳

It’s your LAST CHANCE to see Step Afrika!‘s The Fruits of Our Labor at @ArenaStage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C., and there are only 10 performances left before it closes November 1.

Founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams, an initiate of the Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., @StepAfrika has carried the percussive traditions of historically Black fraternities and sororities to more than 60 countries, showing the world that stepping is art, history and storytelling all at once.

Tickets start at $42, and it makes for the perfect date night or outing with your line brothers and sisters. Don’t wait on this one!

Grab your tickets now at the link in @ArenaStage’s bio.

✨Observed each October 17, Black Poetry Day celebrates the contributions of Black poets, past and present. The date honors the birthday of Jupiter Hammon, the first Black poet published in the United States.

In @stepafrika!'s THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR, that literary legacy becomes part of the performance. Recorded words, projections, and movement bring the poetry of Black writers’ perspectives into a dance exploration of the American experience.

In honor of National Black Poetry Day today, we wanted to take a moment to highlight some notable excerpts featured in THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR.

We hope you take a moment today to read and reflect.
