Our mother @stephalona_ been planning her move to a bigger city since she could imagine what that could look like outside of the concrete walls of Braddock Pa , Braddock is a known black poor neighborhood with talent individually that go underlook sometimes ,Or we give up . It’s hard when your support is limited . @stephalona_ been planning to move this fall after personal stuff and needed a fresh template , After a job firing due to gender harrasment, she was left without a job in July so it killed her finances and all her funds in June went to cover bills , she raised 450 in funds in mutual aid posting so we’re throwing a party to help her hopefully cover the rest of the 450/1,250 maybe more 😉💐🫶🏾 . We gathered some of our favorite artist in the city

Last call!! @honchopgh pride: SATURDAY JUNE 6 / 10PM - 6 AM / ADVANCE TIX ONLY

Opening up the gauntlet is CARRIE SOURS, your favorite “moody and funky” esoteric diva! Known for fusing emotional and psychedelic dance music with sensual grooves, post-punk, and private press records with an approach born of the DIY, glamour-free creative environment of the Midwest. “Your pussy better be esoteric!!”

Followed by a first-time ever b2b of XC-17 & ICY PISCES. Spin into peak time with beats and blends that will leave your ussy in new realms of vibration.

ICY PISCES is known for their freewheeling collision between all sounds in the expanded universe of bounce that ass - jersey club, ballroom, techno, house, juke, trap classics and more, blended with an enthralling finesse & expansive palette.

XC-17 is known for combining infectious rhythmic dexterity & influences across spectrums of club, noise, & industrial music. The mother of chimeric queer imprint Dyspheric, she channels a cacophonous & renegade spirit into all she does.

Leading into the sleazier zones of the night, prepare to slingshot into the outer realms of your mind with none other than the mischievous maidens KIERNAN LAVEAUX b2b DAVIS GALVIN

Davis is known for their signature expansive & refined palette of sounds, smells, & flavours - a truly off-kilter experience of delicious fun & effervescent mystique spanning ambient, experimental, jazz, house, techno and beyond.

Kiernan Laveaux’s evocative tendencies behind the decks have been described in equal parts as a “truly original, blinding DJ style that demands a response - articulating a vivid dreamlogic through raw proto-dance, deep dubwise invocations, fearless punk energy, & futuristic dancefloor wigglers” as well as “Terrible, worse than nothing - it’s not even music”.

Closing us out is MALZOF, a beloved staple of the old Hot Mass, they make their debut at the new location. Move your body in new ways and wind it back through the abstracted grooves. Get enchanted through blissed out beats, fun and freaky vocals, weaved into a psychedelic tapestry.

SWEET ABYSS | WEDS 3/25/26 | 7 - 11 PM | BANTHA TEA BAR | ALL AGES | $5-20 NOTAFLOF

Sweet Abyss returns end of March with a local all-star lineup!!! After a kickass 3-yr anniversary weekender, we are thrilled to welcome you back for a night at Bantha Tea Bar. Featuring some of our favorite DJs & musicians FEMI, NAEEM & XC-17!!!

We've been longtime fans of FEMI, and ever since hearing her beautiful downtempo set at @bad.sauna many moons ago, we've been waiting for her to grace the decks at Sweet Abyss. She is especially known for her a range of sounds including Afrobeat, Amapiano, R&B, Trap & Hip-hop. @djfemi412 is a music industry veteran at this point, and has long been a force in creating events across the city and sharing her sound via events like UPBEAT, @sadbearpresents & more!

Loving NAEEM's many years of productions and mixtapes via @sasb.radio, we can't wait to hear him play live! What a special treat for us all! Naeem is often behind the scenes putting puzzle pieces together to make many special nights across the city happen via @detourpgh @hotmasspgh & other DIY events around town. He is also a prominent teaching artist and seasoned screen-printer, having put in many years at Pittsburgh's @thewarholmuseum! Many Hands Make Light Work!!

XC-17, is a sibling and collaborator to us at Sweet Abyss, known for widestretching sounds and wild blends. Aka @stephalona_, she has curated in-person and online events via @dyspheric_ bringing together a new generation of dancers, listeners and musicians throughout the pandemic and beyond. Her debut album EROT presents her eerie gothic poetic side. While she's also known to make it shake with her megamix party DJing, and to slow it down through ambient dirges alike, she will close out the night in the way only she knows how!!

As always, poster & live visuals presented by resident artist/vj/dj @jmal_malzof!!
