🎖Most Likely to Make Sugar Out of Sh*t. • Scroll down memory lane with me and let me explain. • Many years ago, I was a Miami HEAT Dancer. And every year, proper awards were given out to select dancers. Rookie of the Year. Veteran of the Year. Most Improved Dancer. Best Dancer. You get the idea. For those who didn’t get one of the main awards, fun + funny superlatives were given out. Spoiler: I didn’t get the main awards. I wasn’t the “best” anything (and that’s okay!). • But. Honest to God, I will never ever forget the day that my then dance captain, queen, @supa_blackgirl presented me with my “award.” • The Most Likely to Make Sugar Out of Sh*t Award. We all laughed. It was because I was sort of the team “designer” and would cut up our shirts in creative ways. NBD. • But that memory has NEVER left me. Because back then, no one knew my backstory. Hell, I didn’t even really have perspective on my own backstory at that time, and it was still unfolding. • All these years later, I still think about that really-no-big-deal award because I know that in my life, the cards I was dealt (good and bad) and the experiences I’ve had (good and bad), I have very much been the most likely to make Sugar out of Sh*t. Make something sweet out of something yucky. Make something beautiful out of something ugly. • I’ve done it with my life. And I am proud of and humbled by that. And I believe that what ever cards you have been dealt (good or bad!), you can create the life of your wildest dreams. #tbt
