Coming up on People Of Lisbon… Keith Harkin @keithharkin.

Born in Derry, Keith is an Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who spent almost a decade touring the world with Celtic Thunder, before setting out on his own. Along the way Keith has released 11 solo albums and these days, Keith is doing things very much on his own terms.

We hung out with him in Lisbon just before he headed off on his current US tour. The video is coming soon.

In the meantime, here are some behind-the-scenes photographs from the one and only @rita_ansone

Life humbled me.
Not by making me smaller.
By making me look differently at what I thought I was here to do.
Losing someone I loved eventually brought me to laughter.
And the more I learned about laughter, the more I became fascinated by breath.
Every laugh begins with a breath.
And somewhere along the way, I started seeing the shape of a tree in the lungs.
Which made me think about books.
Books come from trees.
And I spend my life writing them.
So I started wondering:
What if I could reverse the process?
What if the stories I write could give something back to the trees they came from?
That's why I want to write a book about laughter that helps plant trees.
And eventually, create a green cemetery, a place where death can return to the earth and become part of something living again.
Because the more lives I've lived,
and the more deaths I've experienced,
the less I think life is about what we become.
Maybe it's about what we leave behind.
And what we allow to grow from it.
