Another AAPA Conference is in the books, and I’m leaving more inspired for my future as a PA!💫

I had the chance to meet incredible leaders in the PA community, soak up knowledge from thought-provoking sessions, and celebrate new friendships at PA Night Out. ⛰️🌮💃🏻

A special thank you to @apspaboard and @kansas_pa for hosting such meaningful networking events—I’m so grateful for the connections & support.

Until next time, @aapaorg ! 🩺🫀👩🏻‍⚕️💉

AAPA 2024 Conference in Houston this past weekend was absolutely incredible! Being surrounded by so many like-minded people, attending various sessions (about space medicine, AI in healthcare, neurology & endocrine emergencies, updates in treating diabetes, HIV in primary care), & networking with other PA-S & PA-C makes me even more excited for my future. The PA community is so supportive, passionate, & committed to improving healthcare outcomes, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it. 🤠🚀👩🏻‍⚕️💥🩺

@stephenspaprogram brought 15 students total to conference this year. Additionally, it was our first time ever competing in the #aapa2024 National Medical Challenge Bowl!

Thank you to all who supported us attending! And big thank you to @aapaorg for organizing this event.

Have you heard about PAEA fellowships? If you are a current PA student you should consider applying. There are two, year long fellowship groups each made up of 15 students across the country:

1: Future Educators Fellowship -designed to enhance PA students’ understanding of the components needed to be a successful PA educator. By the end of the Fellowship, Fellows will understand the elements of the PA Educator Competencies, develop skills within the Foundational PA Educator Competencies, and develop skills within the Functional PA Educator Competencies

2: Health Policy Fellowship- The SHPF is designed to enhance students’ understanding of the political process and health policy. The ultimate goal is to inspire and prepare fellows for lifelong grassroots advocacy, both in Washington and at home, that promotes the PA profession as an integral part of the health care system.

Applications are due July 11th!!!!

When @ta.the.pa and I set out to write this book, we did so because we both had moments where we felt what we needed to help us get through school hadn't existed. There is no shortage of quality quick hit review books, or question banks, but what neither of us were able to find was a book that taught us the fundamentals. Yes there are the gold standard texts like Harrison's, but they were too detailed and hulking to confidently read from cover to cover. What we were looking for was a clear and concise book that provided enough detail that a didactic student could pick it up and read about diseases they have yet to hear of. A book focussed enough that a clinical student could quickly use it to reference things they struggled to recall. A book so high yield that they could later use it to review for the PANCE. Most importantly we wanted to write the book that the student wouldn't sell or pass on to someone else once they graduated, but kept on their desk at work to reference in practice.
We set out hoping to make the perfect book for people like us -- and while that certainly isn't everyone, at least now those folks will have that book they need.
