Well, that’s a wrap for April (I know there’s a few days left, but oh well)

This month has been so sweet and filled with so much laughter, joy and smiles, but also filled with a lot of tears, nights of little to no sleep, and grief.

I flew to Ohio for a week and got to meet my youngest nephew, Lincoln, for the first time and boy was it a joy to hang out with him. I also got to go to an awesome Mt. Joy concert with some friends and run into some incredible friends while I was there. I got to see Meagan and Casey again for the first time in a while (though apparently we didn’t get a photo with Meagan in it, MY BAD). I got to see both my sisters (Ashley and Andrea) brother-in-laws (Lucas & Uncle Mr. Carey) and my other nephew, Luke, and spend some good, precious, and needed time with them and I wouldn’t have traded that for the world cause I’ve missed them deeply. I also got to experience Greek Easter for the first time, which was actually pretty neat and a lot of fun!

Then after I got back, the Florida YL Region took a staff retreat to Longboat Key, and we got to stay at a hotel where I got to spend a lot of great and joyful time with, people that aren’t only my coworkers, but people I get to call friends and family. And maybe got a little burned too (but it’s turning into a tan)

Though all of these good things are true and have made the second half of April, it did start really rough. On April 1st, my oldest nephew, Brian, passed away. It was definitely a shock to my system and it’s been a long month of both really good highs and really hard lows as I’ve reflected on both his life and my own. It’s always tragic that losing a loved one cause make you realize a lot of things in life, and though I wasn’t around in the later years of his, I will always cherish the early years I had with him and move forward and try to be closer and more available to not only all my nephews, but my whole family as well.

Brian, I love you and I miss you, and I always have. Sleep well and fly high, buddy.
