Chicago has and always will be a city of a thousand neighborhoods. Each area has its own feel, its own version of life in this city. Andersonville is like a small town within Chicago, and we’ve been wanting to spotlight more local businesses here in whatever way we can.

Folk has the *perfect* blend of handmade, creative, vintage, and what feels like true heirloom goods. Their space is easy, and stunning, and quite honestly the background of almost every video from our mini photoshoot there has a Mata team member shopping in the background. We couldn’t not. There’s so much to see, and this was all before they opened up their cafe space within the store!

If you’re someone who’s looking to slow down, enjoy your local community, shop vintage pieces with a story and a lifetime behind them, or delight in an intentional and delicious brewed drink, then stop by Folk. If you’re someone looking for natural window light so nice that strangers on the internet might think you’re actually AI (like what actually happened with this first pic of @stephneusews!), then stop by Folk. Happy Mother’s Day + World Fair Trade Day weekend!

To us, this weekend is a celebration of women everywhere.

Here’s to the mothers, grandmothers, mother figures. The women working for their kids, buying gifts for their nieces and nephews, those who hand out high fives to neighbor kids, or those who spend their days wiping noses, and the women who long to be doing just that.

Here’s to the women who work for their families, who learn a new skill and make a living from it, and those who start their own business and employ dozens of other women who are doing the same.

Fair trade and mothers have a lot in common, and we want to share the 💚 for them today and everyday!

From the runway to real life ✨

Another beautiful Chicago fashion moment where creativity, community, and personal style all meet in the same room.

At @productionmode we celebrated the designers behind @niczkadesignhouse and @fundaesoles with the chance to see runway pieces up close & meet the people who created them.

I love this moment in fashion: when clothes move from performance to personal self-expression. When you can imagine how a piece might live in your own life and body.

I said brrr… it’s cold in here ❄️ there must be some puffy nylon makes in the atmosphere.

Our matchy matchy ambassadors clearly understood the assignment. They turned our puffy quilted nylon into the cutest cold-weather jackets, cozy pants, bags & scarves —The creativity?? The skill?? We’re obsessed with every single one.
