I have a hold for a big shoot next week in NY and haven’t been on set in a bit. I’ve been off winding through rivers and visiting National Parks (see last slides). So in order to get back on track for being in front of the camera here are a few low key things I do:

• Makeup face shield, basically a shower cap so makeup doesn’t get on clothes
• Micellar makeup remover, travel
size. I can’t wait to take makeup off

It’s getting really close and very real. Last few days in our house until the Twilight Open House — Thursday 1/29 5-7pm
Hosted by our magnificent agents @teamplowright of Grubb Co.

Otherwise, shown by appointment only. Yes, we’re selling our house and including many of our collected possessions.

I am going to miss my ‘tree house’ home studio. It’s been a place of so much comfort and inspiration, cradled among the oak trees. And full of so many memories. I hope whoever buys our home enjoys this space even half as much as I have and creates their own beautiful memories.

Every year I think “we have to get family photos done.” And every year, I dread it. The prep, the pressure, the hope that the kids will cooperate for just one decent shot.

This year I wanted to try something different. Less posed, more real. I wanted to actually capture our kids how they are right now: silly, loud, totally unpredictable.

Stephanie from @halfpint_collective made that so easy. She picked out our outfits. She didn’t rush us. There was plenty of time to let the kids be kids, which honestly made me relax too. Nothing felt forced. It felt like we were just hanging out together, and she happened to be there with a camera.

I’m so grateful we got to work with her. If you’re in the Bay and planning your annual shoot or thinking about gifts for the grandparents, she’s the one to book.

Part 2 of 2 in my very delayed Top of Mind catch-up. The last week of September and first week of October were truly next-level. I called it my “12-day sprint” for a reason. It finally wrapped with a reset week, and now I’m officially caught up with this series. Let’s get into it.

CAPTURING
I’ve always wanted those “not so styled” shots with the kids, the kind that capture real personality and zero stiff, forced smiles. @stephrausser of @halfpint_collective nailed it (Bay Area moms listen up!) Can’t wait to share the full album.

EATING & DRINKING
We love to cook, but during weeks that feel like a nonstop sprint, having prepped meals in the fridge makes a big difference. When @cookingclaudine offered to drop off some of her literal farm to table lunches, I immediately said yes. Also fully leaning into San Francisco’s late summer meets early fall moment, and @vervecoffee pumpkin cold brew might be the best I’ve ever had.

CELEBRATING
Our third @mntstudio is officially open and we celebrated big with 300 friends from the Mill Valley community. One of those days I’ll remember.

STYLING
Stopped by @look.at.me.sf for a nail refresh and @hudson_hair for a cut and blowout to be camera ready for the big day. And a big thanks to @vuori for outfitting our Mill Valley team, the fabric of their sets is so good.

WATCHING
We took the kids to @disneyonice to see Elsa and Encanto. Willow is at the absolute perfect age. She was completely mesmerized, and I may or may not have teared up watching her watch them. She kept whispering, “Mama, is she real?”

Your drive towards professionalism in everything you do whether it’s trying a new recipe, knitting a sweater, creating art or helping another inspires me every day. It’s not every day that you’re being asked to participate in a little photo project about finding your comfort in aging, so I am grateful. I come to understand that for me personally it was about taking some control that I felt I had lost. Embracing my next decade has been the opposite of accepting. I am not just accepting anymore and as I have moved into this next phase, I am determined to be in the drivers seat. For me, it was about taking charge of my physical health. Not accepting status quo, but being ready to work for it. I have been running most of my life. I started when I was 14, but there were periods in my life where I had excuses and didn’t follow through. I have taken back my passionate love for running. No excuses for me anymore. Today is another year around the Sun for me. Embracing my inner Leo ♌️ and my determination to get the most out of the years ahead with whatever it takes. Thank you to @stephrausser for including me in your fun Photo Project. I love that she challenged me to go out of my comfort zone and risking my heavy stone living room table crashing through the Vintage floors of our old house.
