Artist: @stepsonpunk
Song: Parting Words

Stepson released this song a couple weeks ago. This band rules! They can do no wrong in my eyes. There's a lot of emotion in their songs, and I'm excited for their up-coming album. Have a great Friday!

Tonight surprised us in all the right ways.

It started with a 45min drive up the coast to drop off Eleven's daughter, then 45mins back down the coast, followed by 45mins into the city. Six thankfully drove, Eleven is feeling dizzy these days.

So we got there early, way earlier than usual, before the first band early.

Stepson... Eleven knew she'd heard of them, scrolled through Spotify and yes, found it! Discover Lonely. Stepson were solid. Delivered a really good set, and bonus they are Brissy locals. They got the crowd moving early and punched well above their weight as they tore through their songs.

Kingdom of Giants. Wow. So good. Reminded us of the Memphis May Fire gig, a little bit dancy, a lot metal, and just so fucking fun. Would absolutely pay to see a headline tour from them.

They mentioned how far away from home they were, but that Australia has the best heavy scene in the world (or did Holding Absence say that, who knows) Totes agree.

Bathroom break for the headliner, and of course Six is in and out in no time, even has a chance to sit down and rest his back and Eleven has to wait in the world's longest line.

There was a younger girl there, guessing early teens, with some killer black eye makeup, and Eleven heard her twice give compliments to other girls about their outfits. What a cutie patootie!

Back into position for Holding Absence. To be honest, when we first picked up tickets, it was a 'oh never seen them before, not many bands are touring right now so why not' kind of vibe. And now we have tickets to see so many bands, we're a bit spoilt this year.

Anyhoo, Holding Absence blew us away. The vocals, the atmosphere and the accents... Who knew they were from Wales...

It was especially nice to see them so chuffed with people singing back to them, and hearing how incredibly grateful they are to be back in Aus, touring and playing live music for us.
