Perfectionist. Sharp. Visionary. Creative. Driven. Charismatic. Ambitious. Magnetic.

And now 40.

We came to Öland to celebrate @christoferjohansson and I’m genuinely honored to have been invited to be part of your big day.

The setting: @hotellborgholm. And that wine list… absolutely crazy. Just look at what we ordered. 💥

Great food, great bottles, great people and then the evening took on a life of its own.

Christofer danced. We all danced. Even the killer blind taster @sternerjohn danced.

Late-night banger bottles and wieners followed.

What a celebration. What a night.

Happy 40th @christoferjohansson and thank you for letting me be part of it. ♥️

NEW SPONSOR 🏆
For the 2025 edition of the Swesomm Junior Challenge we have a new sponsor which we are very happy to announce. Our main sponsor will be AdVini, and as usual for the competition one of the many things they'll do is provide a wine trip as a prize for the finalists...

Thank you, AdVini, for helping us make this competition as good as we possibly can and for joining us in pushing Swedish sommeliers even further on their path 👏

A huge congratulations to our Head Sommelier, John Sterner, who made it all the way to Sunday’s final in the Best Sommelier of the Nordics! 🏅🍷

After several intense hours in front of a live audience – with challenges including food and wine pairings, blind tastings, decanting and cocktail preparation, it was announced that he had secured an impressive third place against incredibly tough competition. 2025 has already been a remarkable wine year at The Winery Hotel with John's outstanding results in both the Swedish and Nordic Championships alongside our wine cellar list receiving awards in the Star Wine List Of The Year and the 2025 Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards.

Our wine cellar list, carefully curated by John himself, features over 1,300 references. Here, wines from classic regions sit alongside an extensive selection of Austrian whites and one of the world’s largest collections from Chianti Classico. A tip from the list right now is the 2020 Villa Bucci Riserva from Marche in Italy and the 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Bonille di Sopra from our vinyard Terreno. The latter is the perfect autumn wine to enjoy with our lamb loin with lamb sausage, crispy potato cake, parsnip purée, oyster mushrooms and red wine sauce, currently on the menu in Restaurant Terreno Kitchen!
