This week’s Freestyle Friday features a somewhat uncommon freestyle by Eminem, taken from the “Murda Mixtape Part 4.” This mixtape, released in 2000, is a project between Stretch Armstrong and DJ Whoo Kid and is part of a series of collaborative mixtapes between the two artists. The mixtape is hosted by Capone-N-Noreaga.

The freestyle is often referred to as the “Fuck You Freestyle” because it incorporates a sample from The LOX’s song “Fuck You,” which was produced by Swizz Beatz for their 2000 album “We Are The Streets.”

LAFH Awards 2024 was truly an unforgettable evening! We began with a star-studded red carpet where guests mingled and sampled delicious dishes prepared by some of LA's top chefs. The main event was just as extraordinary, featuring a moving story from Lorena Pereyda about her journey home, a beautiful performance by Grammy-nominated artist Gracie Abrams, and inspiring speeches from a lineup of notable speakers, including Mayor Karen Bass all honoring the heart and soul of LAFH—our AMAZING staff!

A HUGE thank you to our phenomenal event chairs Frances and Steve Berman, generous sponsors, and community partners - without you, this night would not have been possible! We cannot wait to see you next year!

🎉🎶 Happy 77th Birthday to the iconic Sir Elton John! 🎹🎈

In celebration of this music legend’s special day, here’s a throwback to one of the most iconic moments in music history: the unexpected but unforgettable collaboration between Sir Elton John and Eminem at the 43rd Grammy Awards in 2001.

Their performance of “Stan” was not only a groundbreaking fusion of rap and rock but also a powerful statement against homophobia, as Elton John proudly supported Eminem, who had faced criticism for his controversial lyrics.

Beyond their differences in genre and background, their friendship highlights the unifying power of music and the importance of mutual respect and acceptance.
