Sometimes the best gifts are the ones you never see coming. 🎁

What started as a mystery box turned into an unexpected unboxing — and we genuinely didn’t know what we were about to find inside.

That’s half the fun of moments like this. No script. No planned reaction. Just open the box and see what happens. 😂

Would you open a mystery box without knowing what’s inside?

Remember when the moon used to follow your family car? 🌙

As a kid, I could sit in the back seat, stare out the window and swear that no matter where we went… the moon was coming with us.

Then years later, something like Bear in the Big Blue House brings that whole feeling rushing back.

It’s funny how one little childhood memory can unlock an entire time in your life.

Did you think the moon was following your car too? 🌙👇

GOODWILL RAISED ME.

Okay… maybe not literally. 😂

But when I look back at how all of this started, Goodwill is absolutely part of the story.

The things I learned there about secondhand goods, thrifting, reselling, people, and finding value in things other people might overlook didn't just disappear when I moved on.

They became part of what came next.

I Love Loose Figures.

Then Stellar Thrift.

And eventually, StellarVERSE.

It's funny how something that feels like one chapter of your life can quietly teach you lessons you'll still be using years later.

This isn't the story of something that's already finished.

We're still building it.

But this is part of where it started.

You’re digging through a pile of VHS tapes, DVDs and physical media…

What actually makes you STOP? 📼👀

On the Wake Up & Coffee Show, Misha Verse asked Steve Dorris, CEO of Stellar Thrift, what he looks for when he comes across physical media at the Goodwill Bins, thrift stores and garage sales.

Sometimes it’s value.
Sometimes it’s rarity.
Sometimes it’s something you haven’t seen since you were a kid.

That’s the fun of Thrifting Nostalgia—the right piece of physical media can take you back before you even pick it up.

So let’s hear yours:

What VHS, DVD, CD or other piece of physical media would make YOU stop digging and grab it?

Be Kind. Rewind. 📼

CONNECTING THRIFT STORES,
RESELLERS & COMMUNITIES ♻️

What happens when thrift stores stop operating like islands? ♻️

On this Quick Coffee Chat from The Wake Up & Coffee Show, Misha Verse sits down with Steve Dorris, CEO of the Stellarverse, over Stellar Bros Coffee to talk about something much bigger than selling secondhand stuff.

CONNECTING PEOPLE.

Thrift stores 🤝 Thrift stores
Resellers 🤝 Local inventory
Organizations 🤝 People in need
Communities 🤝 Communities

Imagine a thrift store overwhelmed with donations.

Instead of usable inventory sitting unsorted—or eventually becoming waste—what if there were relationships already in place with other thrift stores, independent resellers and community organizations?

Some inventory could be sold.
Some transferred.
Some given away.
Some could go directly to people who need it.

Different solutions. Same goal:

♻️ KEEP GOOD STUFF MOVING.

That's sustainability.
That's community.
And that's the kind of conversation we're having over coffee.

GOODWILL, STELLAR THRIFT… OR BOTH? 🤔

A viewer questioned Steve Dorris after hearing him talk about donations, sustainability and what happens to usable items after they’re donated.

So Steve responded.

Steve works for Goodwill while also serving as CEO of Stellar Thrift—two separate roles that can understandably create questions when he talks about the secondhand industry.

But this conversation is bigger than one organization.

Where do our donated items ultimately go?

How can we keep usable goods in circulation longer?

And what can the secondhand industry do better?

For Steve, it comes back to something we say a lot at Stellar Thrift:

We are in the people business.

Watch his response and then tell us what YOU think. 👇

WHY WASTE THIS? 👕♻️

Sustainability sounds like a huge idea.

Sometimes it’s much simpler: How do we keep useful things in circulation instead of throwing them away?

That question came up during a conversation about what we’re trying to build inside the StellarVERSE.

Yes, we want to build companies that grow.

But we also want to ask harder questions along the way:

Can we give more things a second chance?
Can we build businesses that strengthen communities?
Can something be profitable AND genuinely heart-driven?

We don’t have all the answers.

That’s part of why we’re documenting it.

Not after everything works.
WHILE we’re building it.

The ideas. The decisions. The wins. The failures. And the people behind all of it.

This isn’t the story of a company that already made it.

It’s the story of building one. ☕🌎

What does sustainability actually look like to YOU?

WHAT DOES A THRIFTING CEO DO TO RECHARGE? 😂

Apparently… more thrifting. 🛒☕️

Steve Dorris, CEO of Stellar Thrift, spent some downtime digging through the Goodwill Bins with a Dutch Bros Coffee in hand.

No giant score required.
No pressure to find something worth a fortune.

Sometimes it’s just about digging through the bins, finding something unexpected and enjoying the hunt.

Because when you actually love thrifting, it doesn’t always feel like work.

Sometimes the hunt IS the recharge. ❤️

What’s your favorite way to recharge?

🎮 What video game instantly takes you back to being a kid?

For Steve Dorris, it’s Super Mario Bros. 3.

It’s not just the game. It’s the yellow box. The world maps. The power-ups. The music. Sitting down to play and disappearing into that world for a while.

That’s THRIFTING NOSTALGIA. ❤️

Sometimes you find an old video game, toy, VHS tape or T-shirt and suddenly you remember something you haven’t thought about in decades.

For Steve, Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of those things.

Remember this feeling? ⭐🦒

Walking into Toys “R” Us in the ’90s and early 2000s just felt different.

The giant signs.
The colorful aisles.
Action figures.
Video games.
Hot Wheels.
And that feeling that there was ALWAYS something around the next corner.

Before everything was one click away, going to the toy store was an event.

You didn’t scroll through toys.

You walked the aisles.
You picked up the boxes.
You stared at the stuff you knew your parents weren’t buying. 😂
And somehow, even the trip itself became a memory.

That’s what THRIFTING NOSTALGIA™ is about.

Sometimes it isn’t the old toy, game, VHS tape, or store that matters most.

It’s the memory it unlocks.

🚀 16 episodes. One last Goodwill run.

This is the final episode of Thrifting Nostalgia.

What started as a simple thrift-store treasure hunt turned into 16 episodes of forgotten media, old games, weird finds, childhood memories, inside jokes, unexpected history, and a whole lot of moments we never could’ve planned.

That’s really what this series became about.

Not just the stuff.

The feeling of seeing something from your childhood sitting on a thrift-store shelf years later.

The people you hunt with.
The memories that come rushing back.
The things you forgot existed until they’re suddenly right in front of you again.

That feeling has a name.

THRIFTING NOSTALGIA. ❤️

To everybody who watched, commented, shared, laughed with us, or recognized something from your own past — thank you for coming along for all 16 episodes.

This chapter ends here.

But Stellar Thrift is just getting started. 🚀

👇 Now we want to know:

WHAT SHOULD WE DO NEXT?

Picked up a Third Day autograph at Goodwill today — wild find.

Third Day’s legacy is a big part of the heart behind Resurrection Sundays on Monad Radio, so this one feels extra meaningful.

Grateful for moments like this while building the station… and while running @iloveloosefigures and @stellarthriftofficial as CEO.

Goodwill treasure hunts stay undefeated.
