WE LOVE OUR SENIORS - In honor of the incredible Class of 2027 we want to pay tribute to each one of the girls who has led this Cicero Volleyball team to amazing accomplishments and it will never be the same without you. With 3 state championships under our belt, this class could see girls that have only been champions. What a legacy they leave behind. We are so proud of each of them.

$23 billion is sitting on unused gift cards. (Don’t worry—this isn’t actually about gift cards. 😂)

We were part of that problem until we finally went on our regularly scheduled Wednesday date—the one that always seems to get pushed aside for work or the kids’ schedules.

I was reminded why we created that standing date in the first place.

There is something special about intentionally dating your spouse. No talking about schedules, responsibilities or problems. Just reconnecting with the person you chose in the beginning—and continuing to discover who they are now.

Twelve years ago, as I was about to walk down the stairs to get married in the beautiful backyard of @mwallach and @swallachceo’s former home—which they so graciously opened to us and transformed into an amazing setting for our celebration—I asked my dad how he and my mom had built such a long, close marriage. One in which they still genuinely love, like and respect each other.

His answer was simple:

“I choose to fall in love with your mother each day.”

They’ve now been married for more than 50 years. I’ve revisited his answer many times, but on Wednesday, I understood my dad’s words differently than I did that day.

If we don’t keep getting to know our partners as they grow and change, we risk loving a version of them that no longer exists.

I’ve been a handful of different women over the past decade. I’m sure Steve has been several different men, too. Our lives are dynamic, and real connection requires us to remain curious about one another.

It takes effort to genuinely like—not merely love—the person beside you. It takes making time, asking questions and continuing to choose each other.

Thank you, @georgecarsonpr. I finally get it. 🥰🫶

And if you have a gift card sitting in a drawer, use it. “Someday” can be a random Wednesday.

Oh, and thank you to @debrabernoff and @michael_bernoff for the gift card you gave @stevehruby for his 50th birthday. Yes, that was years ago. And yes, I know—he does not look like he was born in 1971. 😂

Dreams are answered … but sometimes it takes time…my whole life I wished for people like this in my life. And one day, I woke up and the plan began to unfolded…. And each year more gems get added to our circle. My heart is so full. Truly I can’t express how these humans contribute to my life. Each year we celebrate the cancerians of our crew. Not only am I blessed my hubby @stevehruby gets to be celebrated but the bestie I can’t imagine life without !
