The laboratory of movement.
Walking these paths through these boulders in this forest, moving on some of the best rock on earth, the rituals of unfolding mats and cleaning boots, brushing holds and thwacking rock clean with a towel. There are a lot of comparisons to this forest, but really, there is only one Font.

Something happens in places like this that might only happen in a few other sports, like surfing. A gathering power, bringing our people to this place when the season is in. No real plans, just friends appearing from the woods, everyone realizing just how damn lucky we are to share this passion in a place like this.

A few shots from a far-too-brief visit/scout. If not for the artists and masters that studied, played, and invented here, climbing would not be what it is today.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance, we’d like to invite attendees of today’s annual fundraiser to recognize our first Board Chair, Steve Downes. His commitment to the Salt Lake climbing community predated the SLCA, and his vision guided the organization for the first eight years. His respect for civic engagement combined with a passion for climbing set the bar for the rest of us that have contributed time, energy, and funding to the SLCA.

Join us by the SLCA tent around 6:30 at today's Fundraiser to raise a glass and share some stories with Steve as we celebrate 20 years of organized advocacy in support of local climbing!
