Textured Impressions - Woodblock Printing Workshop at the Graphic Arts Workshop

March 29 & 30th at the GAW - $200 + $25 material fee for wood - email stevenhuntley242@gmail.com to register

Steven Huntley is a passionate printmaker who has dedicated his life to mastering the art of traditional techniques. Trained by skilled professionals at Purchase College in New York City, he creates intricate woodcuts, silkscreens, lithographs, and etchings, all deeply infused with texture. Steven has spent years collecting and mimicking various textures using materials like cheesecloth, glue, and sandpaper, allowing him to infuse rich detail into his work. His art serves not only as a personal expression but also as a powerful medium for social change. By blending techniques such as monoprinting, woodcut, and etching, he crafts unique images that spark dialogue around political issues and inspire a shift in social consciousness. Through his highly textured creations, Steven aims to share his experiences and insights, fostering a greater understanding of the world and its complexities. With a deep commitment to sharing his knowledge, Steven encourages others to explore their creativity, believing that art can drive positive change and connect people in meaningful ways. His journey as an artist is a testament to the belief that creativity can inspire hope and transform lives.

"You, don't be afraid. I said that it was intended that you should perish in the ghetto, perish by never being allowed to go beyond the white man's definitions, by never being allowed to spell your proper name. You have, and many of us have, defeated this intention; and, ny a terrible law, a terrible paradox, those innocents who believed that your imprisonment made them safe are losing their grasp on reality."
