As one of the only Asian people growing up in a small town, I still remember what it meant to see Michelle Yeoh on the big screen for the first time. So it was such a thrill to emcee Yeoh’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony on Wednesday - and what a relief it didn’t rain. After pouring for two days straight, I was worried the skies would not be kind for her big day but then I remembered: Michelle Yeoh controls the weather!

The Academy Award-winning actress brought a slew of talent out for the ceremony. Directors she’s collaborated with in attendance included: Ang Lee (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians,” the “Wicked” movies), The Daniels (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and Paul Feig (“Last Christmas.”) Also present were former co-stars Awkwafina and Ke Huy Quan and more Asian royalty in the form of Sandra Oh. Yeoh’s attorney, Jeff B. Cohen, who happened to play Chunk in “The Goonies” opposite Quan (and the two remain close to this day) was also present, which gave me a chance to get a photo with them together. I am using this to pitch my new series, “Between Two Goonies.”

As always a huge thanks to @stargirl_stuff and the amazing people at @hollywoodchamberofcommerce including @jerryneuman and @stevenissen76 who always put on such great events. And a huuuuuge thanks to @imagerybyoscar for the wonderful photos! (Sorry I'm not sure who to credit for the videos but the photos are all courtesy of @imagerybyoscar / hcc.)

For more ramblings on the day including what Michelle said and Ang Lee's tribute (aka The Testament of Ang Lee*) go here: https://jenelleriley.substack.com/p/michelle-yeoh-walk-of-fame

*blame @guy.lodge for that joke.
