Hey friends! The earthquake in #Panama hit #PlayaVenao hard. That’s where we take our @rainbowsurfretreats crew every year for a joyful week of surfing. Our host, @beachbreaksurfcamp faired ok compared to other buildings, but lots of people in the village and beyond lost homes and businesses. The fundraiser in my bio was started by another group that uses Beach Break. The money will go directly to the workers who have welcomed us over the years with open hearts and minds 🏳️‍🌈❤️. The surf coaches, the hotel staff and bartenders, etc. It’s going to be a lot of rebuilding for all of them and their families. Every bit helps. We’re gonna do what we can to get back there later this year for our annual retreat and help out! Thanks! ❤️

We have the craziest job in the world, right? We travel the world to share our passion for surfing, for traveling and for teaching with a gang of incredible human beings who, just like us, are looking for a true connection in a safe space where they can just be themselves. That’s an insanely specific job. And yet we found a partner who does exactly the same thing, from before we got together. 🤯
You know how crazy that is? How incredibly lucky we are? We do, and we’re grateful for it every day. Except if he leaves the keys in the door on the outside again. All night. 🙄
But yeah, that’s my favourite place in the world: him.

What a week. ❤️

To everyone who joined us in Hossegor: thank you.

Thank you for bringing your stories, your energy, your courage, your humour, your kindness, and your slightly questionable dance moves.

Thank you for the laughs, the tears, the smiles, the beach walks, the sunset hangs, the long dinners, the deep conversations, the terrible jokes, the high fives, the wipeouts, and those magic moments in the water when everything just clicks.

Thank you to our incredible surf coaches for their patience, encouragement, and endless stoke. Thank you to Claire for taking care of us all week. Thank you to the bakery for keeping us fuelled with croissants every morning and that dangerously good cheesecake. Thank you to the ocean for showing up. Thank you to the sunshine for mostly behaving itself. Thank you to Hossegor for being Hossegor.

Most of all, thank you to every single person who trusted us enough to spend a week with a bunch of strangers and helped turn them into friends.

As always, the waves were fun. But they were never the best part.

Video dump of the second edition of the intermediates-only Rainbow Surf Retreat. What a great gang it was. And we did so much stuff: surfing at different locations, dawn patrols, sunset surfs, snorkelling, diving, on-land training, surf skate, video analysis, family dinners, visit to the local town, bonfire, bbq, pool hangs, cocktails and beers, and so on.
We cant thank the guys enough for the positive energy, the good vibes and the a-game they brought. I know we’re going to see again. Soon.
