Today would have been my brother Steven’s 61st birthday. We were very close in age but closer in so many other ways. I considered him my best friend.
My sisters and I growing up had the privilege of sharing 26 years of memories with him, and not a day goes by that we don’t think about the life he would have had today: a life we could have seen blossom with success, love, and happiness that he probably would be boasting about right now.
His memory is more than just his lost presence. His memory is a reminder of how people impact our lives when they are living and continue to impact and shape every day after they are gone.
He was the inspiration for me following my strong path in yoga. He is the reason why I continue to find meaning in my work, and hope to inspire or remind someone to live with purpose, stay present and aware, and not take that which is precious in your life for granted.
There are no guarantees in life except the inevitable-so cherish, love ,forgive, support, honor and appreciate every blessing.
Happy birthday Steve…still feel your presence in my heart. ❤️

This man means everything to me. Having spent more than half my life with him I can honestly say that I have never once felt unseen, unheard, or unloved by him.
From the moment he entered my life he has supported my dreams, alleviated my fears, and provided the most unwavering backbone for me to be me:
The incredible father to our kids, son in law to my parents, and the best friend I know, who shows up without being asked for anyone, with his quiet strength and help.
I am the luckiest girl to have met him on a BLIND DATE almost 31 years ago. And I love him just as much today as ever.
Happy Anniversary to the love of my life… and my protector from insanity. Without him I’d be a little “more” crazy. 🤣
He probably won’t even see this but…the world sees him and knows how special he is.
Love you babe. Forever and ever.

Don’t have a lot of time? Maybe you have just five minutes? Try this quick little sequence and see how you feel. You can do this anytime in the morning or at night for a quick activation of strength, mobility and length in the body. Hold each pose for a solid 8-10 breaths. * half sun salutes help to stretch and open up all the facet joints in the spine plus it activates your core muscles and engages your inner thighs toward the pelvic floor. * spinal twists create deep mobility in the thoracic spine by activating your deep oblique muscles which essentially helps to protect the shoulders from over use. These muscles stabilize your hips with the help of utilizing your inner and outer thighs. * Reverse triangle and triangle both help to open up your entire front and back chain muscles , force your core muscles to support length , and use your thighs and quads to lift the arches and ankles of your feet which helps to strengthen the pelvic floor and protect the spine. *wide legged feet with interlaced fingers behind your back helps to create mobility in your shoulders by activating the triceps, the deltoids and expanding through your pectoralis muscles. It allows gravity to do some of the work while you’re pressing through your feet to activate those large stabilizing muscles in your lower body. This is a great sequence if you don’t have a lot of time because it really checks into your entire body pretty efficiently. Take your time. Move slow. Take full deep breaths. Let us know how you feel from the sequence! Always listen to your body and the messages it is giving you and work appropriately, slowly and mindfully. Show up as you are.#calabasas #innerpower #fiveminutefitness⚡👟⏰💪 #yoga #wellness

Does anyone else do yoga with an audience? 🐱
There’s no perfect moment. There’s no perfect body. There’s no perfect practice.
There will always be a cat on your mat. Kids climbing on you. A job that drained you. A body that moves differently than it used to.
I’m 59. I have two hip replacements. My practice today looks nothing like it did at 20 — and that’s not a failure. That’s just honest.
Some days I have 5 minutes. Some days I fall out of a pose. Some days I modify everything. And I show up anyway.
Small, steady commitment beats an all-or-nothing attitude every single time. Start small. Get good instruction. Be consistent. Stop judging where you are against where you think you should be.
That’s not a consolation prize — that’s actually how it works.
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to try yoga — this is it. Chaos and all. It’s not perfection that matters: it’s consistency.

Women need strong, solid, reliable and accurate information about their health: not from google or ChatGPT….but from real doctors with over 50 years of collective knowledge and practice. Meet Dr. Robert Pushkin,OBGYN and Dr. Sharon Pushkin OBGYN: two doctors, father and daughter who I trust with my questions about women’s health issues and concerns ( okay they happen to be my dad and sister but I’d still put them on a pedestal if we weren’t related!). They wrote a fantastic book, all about questions women have, from adolescence through menopause, that help keep us -the fearless informed female -engaged in our own health, advocacy, and knowledge about our bodies. Each chapter is easy to read: it includes an index with topics every woman who wants honest, concise and easy to understand reference , which sometimes is missed in our quick healthcare system of today, can have at their fingertips at any time. “ The Fearless Informed Female” is an invaluable reference to use before or after you see your doc, written by docs who have seen it all in women’s health! Come meet them in person at the following dates for their book signing at The Open Book Store
On the following dates and locations: Sat 4/18 Pasadena 1-3

Sun 5/3
Simi valley 1-3

Sun 6/14
Woodland Hills. Topanga blvd 1-3

They would love to meet you in person! If you can’t make it, you can purchase their book on Amazon or EBay. Every woman should have a copy for those times when the drs office is closed but you want the words and experience from real doctors. #doctor #knowledgeispower #womenshealth #gynecology #fearlessinformedfemale
