They told him to check into a psychiatric hospital.

It was 2009, right after the financial crisis. @stevevarsano ‘s plan? Build a store to sell private jets.

Everyone said he was crazy. Nobody would fly private anymore.

The industry was dead. Wall Street was dead. The banks were dead.

He built it anyway.

@stevevarsano didn’t want to post it. The mom did, and it hit 30 million views on TikTok.

When is the right time to buy a corporate jet?

@stevevarsano , the man billionaires call when they want a jet, says almost nobody should buy one just for personal use.

His rule: if you don’t need at least 150 flight hours a year, don’t buy.

He also explains why renting your jet out to cover costs sounds smart but usually turns into a headache.

Write your CV… from 10 years in the future.

When young people ask @stevevarsano for advice, this is the exercise he gives them:

1.Take a blank sheet of paper and write your CV as it will look 10 years from now. What’s your job? What’s your company?

2.Work backwards: where do you need to be in 7 years? 5? 3?

3.Come back to today and ask: “What do I have to do today to reach that first milestone?”

Pick a target. Put your focus on it. Never give up.

At 7 years old, @stevevarsano was sweeping floors in a beauty salon.

He grew up in a fatherless home, with his mom working two jobs to raise four kids.

He worked his way up from dishwasher to busboy to waiter to chef, and paid his way through university.

At 14, one ride in a four-seater plane over New York City changed everything.

@stevevarsano was 23 and closing his first jet sale to a South American billionaire.

The deal was signed. Then, on the flight to Miami, the buyer’s two representatives demanded a “fee” and pulled a gun.

What happened when they landed is almost unbelievable: a fuel bill, a distraction, a sprint to a taxi, and an escape.

And the deal still closed.
