Biltong spice in a coffee cocktail?

RE:COFFEE @james.odendaal @stevobrewscoffee, the winning team at TBL: Africa, used a South African seasoning blend traditionally made for dried meat to create bitters for their cocktail.

A familiar ingredient, just somewhere you wouldn’t expect to find it.

We can hardly believe it’s almost been three weeks since TBL Africa, and we’re still recovering from the good vibes. ☕️

As always, @thebaristaleague ensured that it was a day filled with great coffee, friendly competition, familiar faces and new connections.

We loved being part of the action, bringing a little ASC energy to the event and creating space for people to engage with and appreciate coffee. From the buzz of the competition to the conversations and activations happening around it, this is what makes the coffee community so special.

A big thank you to @thebaristaleague for having us, and to @origincoffeesa for allowing our participants to taste and enjoy your 20 year legacy.

And a special congratulations to @stevobrewscoffee and @james.odendaal for a performance that had the crowd hooked and the judges in awe, from start to finish. Such a well deserved win! 🏆☕️

Omakase 🇯🇵

I had the privilege this week of attending an Omakase at Origin Coffee by my friend, Stevo Kuhn.

It’s was 3 courses - a delectable Colombia Gesha espresso, a moreish India Excelsa & Kenya Natural milky, and a signature drink with an anaerobic Uganda that honestly left me stunned 😮

I love working in coffee, connecting with great people, and drinking one of the world’s best beverages!

We’re proud to celebrate another 10 students who have graduated from the SCA Coffee Skills Program: Barista Skills (Foundation)☕🎓

The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical training, giving graduates industry-recognised skills they can take into the workplace or build on as they grow their careers.
