Back in summer, while still in Leeds, I booked a table at Taipei Illustration Fair, with no real clue of what I’ll bring there (I usually work in publishing and design and am newb at art markets!). The perfect way to meet fellow illustrators, maybe potential clients and to feel more connected to my new place, I thought. Can’t even tell the amount of stress it ended up causing me lol but in a hindsight, it was indeed the best idea ever.

I mainly create children’s illustrations and this was more for an adult public, so gave it my all and created content from scratch, mostly at night after working on books projects, just in time to send my stickers and riso art to print at the very last minute. I did not have time, or the budget really, for proper walls or signage so I DIY-ed everything with cardboard, posca pens, foam, and a few b&w A1 from my local printer.

Jun @zejunyao helped a lot on the days leading the the event and on the spot, climbing ladders, giving great advice on how to display everything properly, and patiently untangling the many knots in my brain 😂 The girls also happily joined in and even took turns being my ‘assistant cashier’ at the table. It truly became a family adventure too!

I was incredibly lucky to have friends come visit me every single day, bringing SO MUCH love and support, and sometimes snacks or the sweetest little card. It truly would not have been the same without you all ❤️ Most of the videos and pictures you see in this post were also taken by them :)

Seeing visitors’ faces light up while walking past my booth was the best. I also has the sweetest interactions. Like this young person who said they had a job interview in a few days and that my art was giving them some much needed courage, or this mum who bought a “fight” badge for her high school son’s backpack to accompany him during his long hours of homework. A lady even told me that seeing my booth made her feel like a child again. All these retro vibes and cool animal characters are just a little portal to our very own childhood, so mission accomplished ❤️

一個不注意，5歲了，上一張貼紙是3歲@@爸爸終於有時間搞事了XD然後媽媽有心準備了小袋袋，有糖果跟吊飾小禮物(之前其他同學爸媽有準備厲害的)，於是爸爸騷屁股硬要多弄東西，希望不要造成其他家長困擾XD
然後就被提醒Tiny的連一歲的都還沒做⋯⋯爸爸要加油了⋯⋯
