The last of my Ironman 70.3 New York Jones Beach photos from yesterday- what a whirlwind of a day- but so happy I got to be down there talking with athletes and friends commiserating in the canceled Race, and what would have been, as Corey, the most amazing race director EVER, put it, “the best Race in the NE”. I’m so sorry to all my friends who are not racing today. I was so excited to welcome you to the finish line. And to all my friends who, even when they knew the forecast - did not bail on their willingness to help me as volunteers, and most of you even said you could do more hours knowing that we would have some no-shows, and signing up at the last minute to help me, knowing fully what you were walking into, for that, I will forever be grateful!! 🙏 at the time I am posting this, I would have finished my swim part of the relay team I was on, and I would have been out of the water, showering in the outside shower at Jones Beach. 😂 I fully intended to blow dry my hair in the Jones Beach bathroom before starting my shift as Captain of the finish line. The weather today is as predicted, and canceling the Race was absolutely right call and today was not the day to make any of this happen. I hope everyone stays safe and for the athletes who are not from our area, we hope you did get to enjoy New York while you were here, and please safe travels home.

❤️🏈🏒 SPORTS ARE ABOUT A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN THE GAME.

What a great day in Farmingdale supporting my friend and Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine and the incredible work of his Companions in Courage Foundation at the Runner’s Edge Main Street Mile.

I’ve always believed that when sports give you a platform, you have a responsibility to use that platform to help somebody else.

That’s exactly what Pat has done.

Through Companions in Courage, Pat has spent years helping children and families facing some of the toughest days of their lives. That mission is bigger than hockey. Bigger than football. Bigger than any one athlete. ❤️

And one of the best parts of days like this is seeing old friends and making new memories.

It was great spending time with fellow New York Giant Sean Landeta, being there with Pat LaFontaine, and catching up with Mark Leff, who does so much to support this event and the Farmingdale community.

Different jerseys. Different sports. Different generations.

But when it comes to helping kids, we’re all on the SAME TEAM. ❤️💪🏾

Thank you, Farmingdale, for a great day and for continuing to show up for an important cause.

And Pat, keep doing what you do. I’ll always be proud to support it. 🏒❤️🏈

FARMINGDALE MAIN STREET MILE

SOMETIMES YOU SHOW UP TO SUPPORT EVERYONE ELSE… AND FIND OUT THEY’VE BEEN NOTICING YOU, TOO. ❤️

I went to the Runner’s Edge Main Street Mile in Farmingdale for the same reason I’ve done so many things over the years: to help, support people I care about, and be part of something that matters.

I was there to support my friend Pat LaFontaine and the incredible work he continues to do through Companions in Courage. I was also excited to bring Perry Williams to the event, introduce him, spend time with friends, and help shine a little more light on a cause that means so much to so many children and families. 🏒🏈❤️

What I wasn’t expecting was what happened when I got up there.

I thought I was there to present Perry.

Instead, I found out I was being recognized too.

I received a Certificate of Recognition from New York State Senator Steven D. Rhoads for my passion and support for the work of Companions in Courage, along with recognition from the Town of Oyster Bay connected to the Main Street Mile.

And I was genuinely surprised. ❤️

When you spend a lot of time working behind the scenes, making calls, connecting people, helping with events, and trying to open doors for causes and people you believe in, you don’t always know whether anybody notices.

You don’t do it for an award.

But I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t mean something when someone stops and says, “We see what you’re doing.”

That meant a lot to me. ❤️

The day itself made it even better. Spending time with Pat LaFontaine, Perry Williams, Sean Landeta, Mark Leff, and so many people who came together to support Companions in Courage reminded me why I enjoy doing this in the first place.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about who gets the credit. It’s about what we can accomplish when good people connect, show up, and help each other.

Thank you to everyone who surprised me with this recognition. You definitely got me! 😂❤️

And Pat, I’ll keep showing up. 🏒❤️

It’s starting to get hard. The miles are long and the days are getting shorter. Work is back. The body is feeling it. But I’ve been here before. We can do this.

Honestly, long runs are better when you have people to dance it out with later.

10 miles done and dusted, and while it nearly destroyed me to do this after speedwork, the fact I did this in under two hours is a complete world of difference from last year. It would take me 2 hours to do almost 8 and here I am with my 3rd fasted time for 10 miles. It’s weird, but exciting to see all progress and hard work I’ve made paying off.

Week 4, Day 6. 12 miles ✔️

Today’s run was great, even without my headphones 😅. I had some set paces for today and for the first time this training cycle, I finally felt really good about them. I tried @maurten_official gels for the first time and had no issues besides texture, so that’s a win in my book.

It was also really nice to have friends waiting for me at the finish, it really kept me going today.
