SewFizzTeaCated 2026 another lovely opportunity to celebrate sewing, and for the inspiring community to come together, while raising funds to support a cancer treatment centre. I used this beautiful Japanese seersucker to create this skirt. The fabric is gathered onto a straight waistband with an invisible zip. I made channels with bias binding from the hem up and inserted ribbons to create the ruched effect. I had too much fabric to begin with so took some of the fullness out, carefully unpicking while leaving the zip intact and resewing once Iโ€™d figured it out so it wasnโ€™t too pouffy. I had made the Willa Top by Stitch Witch patterns for London Frocktails and loved the shaped of the front so used that pattern again. This time I altered the front wrap creating a button stand instead with a row of tiny buttons at the front. It needs some slight adjustment but was wearable. I love that it looks like a dress but that I can wear the pieces separately. I originally bought some of this fabric in Merchant & Mills and absolutely loved it. When I visited Japan earlier this year I discovered a roll in the back of one of Nippori townโ€™s fabric shops, so had to buy some. It was about ยฃ5 a metre. (Obviously no fees for shipping etc!)
The outfit is complimented by the fabulous Skull brooch made by @corriesfancygoods which fortuitously arrived on my doormat with the morning post yesterday. ๐Ÿ–ค

๐Ÿ‚ Autumn is here and I couldn't be happier ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ
My first autumn make of the season is this absolutely dreamy midi skirt by @mccallpatterncompany ! It's the #m7981 made in a slightly stretchy viscose wool blend. I am so in love with the colour๐Ÿคฉ The fit is perfect too which I knew I would be as it's my second time making this skirt ๐Ÿฉท
The original pattern doesn't come with a separate bottom tier but my fabric wasn't wide enough to cut out the whole skirt pattern in one go so I had to adapt ๐Ÿ˜…
I am wearing it with my #tudorblouse by @stitchwitchpatterns and I love the combo.
Prepare to be sick of me with autumn outfits ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜†

London Frocktails 2026: I really enjoyed the creative process of making these trousers. I had an initial idea in mind and had collected inspiration pictures over the past few months. I sourced the cotton pinstripe fabric on a trip to Japan, but my ideas evolved when I saw some Hakama inspired trousers and wanted to make my own take on them. The Closet Core Mitchell trousers, a wide leg pattern I had made before was my starting point. I drafted a new left leg with more volume to create 3 pleats and a wrap to the right side. This was secured with a black kilt pin. A side pocket on the leg with ribbon detail was made, reminiscent of 90s parachute pants, giving a splash of colour. This was matched by the reverse welt pockets lined in red on the back (you can find instructions for this on the Closet Core blog - a Ginger Jean hack) I chose a cropped length and added chain and charm details inspired after seeing a reel of Ann Ringstrandโ€™s Winterfell skirt. Finished with my own Black Rebel Sewing Machine Club label on the back and a London Frocktails one inside. The top is the Stitch Witch patterns Willa top in a cotton with ribbons that match those on the trousers. It took a while to work out what to pair the trousers with but this worked beautifully. Nike Air rift trainers completed the look and were super comfy.
