PEDALBOARD UPDATE: WHAT JUST HAPPENED HERE?

I never expected such an impact, but the Kosko FX Bad Trip totally surprised me and instantly earned a fixed spot!
This pedal is a time bomb: fixed Delay before Distortion, insane Volume, and that “Magic Button” that takes the noise to infinity. It is devastating in the best way possible.
I think, modify, test, play, and in the end, just like in the last photo, I am happy with the result!
A huge thanks again to @KoskoFX for this incredible collaboration!

COMING SOON: The full review and demo video of the Bad Trip will be released shortly on my channel. Get ready for the chaos that’s about to hit!

Welcome to the Family: Missed a few NewPedalDays 😉 The Harmonic Booster and the B1K have been on my board for a while now so I can adapt quickly to new bands— super efficient pedals that allow for really fast tone shaping.
But today I put the Empress Bass Compressor on the board and I’m blown away! What a monster. The plan was to do comp-stacking with the Empress in the first position for gentle compression and then use the Cali76TX at the end of the chain for stronger coloration…
BUT what the Empress delivers on its own in the all-noon setting is insane! My Nash PJ really comes alive, becomes incredibly detailed, and gets that perfect Rock/Punk Rock “dengel” tone. The Cali then makes everything very warm and round—almost mellow—and the two in combination with the preamps (DCX & Harmonic Booster) offer an incredible range: from the perfectly smooth fingerstyle tone (Cali & DCX) with Motown vibes, all the way to a very modern Rock/Punk Rock sound (Empress & Harmonic Booster) that, thanks to the Empress’s saturation option, sounds unbelievably clear, tight, and modern. And if you swap their order around, it’s next-level again.
At the moment I barely need to use the dirt pedals—just a homeopathic dose—because the core tone already has so much grit. Amazing—like gently seasoning a perfect Michelin-star dish. #empresseffects #origineffects #darkglasselectronics #stonedeaffx #origineffectscali76tx #cali76tx #empresseffectsbasscompressor #harmonicbooster #darkglassb1k #darkglassvintagedeluxe #kohleaudiokult #dengel

Why Don’t You Love Me?

————————

Why Don’t You Love Me? (Part 1) is one of those songs where every note feels heavier than words.
It carries that mix of fragility and anger that comes from feeling invisible. I tried to let it speak through the sound: shimmer reverb, delay, fuzz, and a touch of phaser to add that unstable feeling, like everything could fall apart at any moment.
Here’s how I play one of the most emotional parts and how these effects blend together to create that suspended tension typical of Hanged at Sunset.
And You… What combination of effects gives you your most emotional sound?

Stone Deaf and 3leaf should join forces and make an octave fuzz pedal. Their sonic combination is amazing.

I’ve got some new additions to the Red City pedal wall.

The Stone Deaf PDF1X has been on my must have list for a while. It’s a pretty versatile box of boost/fuzz/distortion with a parametric EQ so the pallet of sounds you can get from it is massive. But its main beauty is the thickness it adds to guitar tones. It’s already made its way onto a couple of my records.

The two ZVEX pedals at the bottom are the same. The pedal is called the “Super Hard On” or SHO.

I watched a video a few weeks ago with the main man Rich Costey and he was talking about recording guitars and how he can’t remember a time in the last 20 years where he’d recorded a guitar part without this pedal being first in the chain.

It works completely differently than most boost/dist pedals in that it is essentially a perfectly clean “ultra-transparent” boost pedal. It has a 5 million ohm input impedance and because it’s so high, it doesn’t put any load onto the guitar pickup. In a nutshell it makes the guitar work like a more enhanced and clear version of itself.

The reason I have two is I bought the one on the left first and realised it’s one of the early versions and only runs off 9V battery so I bought the other one. I’m probably going to sell the hand painted one once I’ve definitely made sure there’s no sonic difference between them.

The big white one in the middle is the Jimi Hendrix OC1 Octavio. It’s an exact clone of the octave-up fuzz Jimi used. I know the pedal well cos my mate @sidglover has had one on his board for the last 15 years. They don’t make these anymore and I saw this one for a steal so I snapped it up.

I ran out of space so check the comments for the rest of my pedal ramblings/descriptons….

There’s a part from The Church by Hanged at Sunset that I never get tired of playing — it captures that mix of energy and emotional tension that defines the song.
The Church is about how the mind can become its own kind of prison, and I tried to reflect that feeling through the sound.
In this video I’m showing how I play it and which pedals I use to get that raw, unstable edge.
What pedals would you add to push that mood even further?
