Meet our owners!

Dave Masterson and Ray Burow met in 2000 when Dave owned and operated Hunterdon Brewing Company and Ray worked at Fred’s Tavern in Stone Harbor. In 2003 Ray went to work for Dave as a sales rep for Hunterdon. They worked together for 10 years until Hunterdon was sold in 2013. Ray stayed on at Hunterdon and Dave went on to other ventures but they kept in touch, mostly meeting at The Bishops Collar for beers. In 2021, Dave began looking into buying Mr. Jay’s Place as a new business venture. While having a pint at The Collar, Dave asked Ray to partner in the new bar that would become The Fairmount Tavern. Mr. Jay’s was purchased on 2/22/2022 from the Guzman Family (day of sale pictured above). Followed by 13 long, hard months of renovation, we opened on Friday March 17th, 2023 (St. Patrick’s Day). Since that day this neighborhood has embraced us and The Fairmount Tavern. We could not be happier being part of such a wonderful community. Since opening we have received help from so many. The owners and staff of Bar Hygge, Stones, Urban Saloon, Kelliann’s, McCrossen’s, Bishop’s Collar, Jack’s Firehouse, and Bad Brother have given us everything from advice and support to receipt paper and limes. Thank you for allowing us to become part of your neighborhood and family. We hope to serve this community for years to come. Thank you!
